All About Christy

NCT link

Adam Kaye wrote a good bio of Mayor Christy Guerin.

On the dais, she sometimes rolls her eyes and shakes her head when she disagrees with remarks by her colleagues. She has taken criticism for some of her retorts to statements from the public.

"I don't let people get away with saying whatever they want," she said. "We have citizens accuse us of crimes, of violating the Brown Act, of spending money like drunken sailors. No one told me I have to leave those things unaddressed. I never want to be rude to anyone, but I think the respect should be mutual.

What is the Brown Act? link

Ralph Brown sez: Don't violate me.

  1. Christy has no problem attacking citizens that question what is going on. Christy, instead of the attacks find understanding and use your position to make the public comfortable that you are watching out for the public's good and our trust. That is the best way to make us go away and make your trip to higher office more comfortable.

You go off on Citizens in public forums, but you tell Leucadians that you don't like to provide (what I call feedback) to your staff when they fail!!!!

No public critisism for the City Manager for not getting the SDG & E bills paid on time? (Encinitas has been paying late fees!)

Sure... (wink) we believe you that you went behind the scenes and provided (what I would call feedback) to the city manager. That's why you just gave him a big fat compensation/pay increase!!!

  2. Anti-Christy is anti open government. She want to be protected by all her big gun buddies, keep the little guy in the dark, or in jail, if we don't "respect her authority." Respect must be earned.

This is how the Brown Act begins; I wonder if Christy has ever bothered to read it. She apparently doesn't have much "higher education"

Bov. Code Section 54950. In enacting this chapter, the Legislature finds and declares that the public commissions, boards and councils and the other public agencies in this State exist to aid in the conduct of the people's business. It is the intent of the law that their actions be taken openly and that their deliberations be conducted openly. The people of this State do not yield their sovereignty to the agencies which serve them. The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know. The people insist on remaining informed so that they may retain control over the instruments they have created.

  3. I think this is great. We get to watch the Christy show all summer. Can she keep her cool until November? Yeah right! I hope she flips out and tries to cuff Westbrook.

  4. So we are now stuck with a year of Mayor Christy. I think it is ironic that she was so smug and put her name on the endorsement for Prop A -- now it has backfired on her and her reelection is coming up -- maybe now she will realize that you count buy your votes. The Ecke's can't help you now Miss Christy. Look out. Novmember will soon be here and you will be gone.....
