The North County Times reported that Will Perry was a candidate but there was some kind of problem with his petition signatures so he is out.
A special thanks to everyone who encouraged me to run. I gave it some serious thought. Hell, I even drove to city hall and sat in my car in the parking lot. I was on the verge of going inside and pulling papers. I gripped the steering wheel with white knuckles, then I grasped at the door handle slowly. Beads of sweat collected on my brow. My heart was racing. Luckily for me I came to my senses and peeled out of there and drove to work where I belong.
Odds anyone?
ReplyDeleteDoug Long's address is right next to Dalagher's store. Are they in cahoots?
ReplyDeletePlease vote for the Quality of life Candidate. Teresa is one. Who is the other? Certainly not Slingblade.
ReplyDeleteToo Bad JP. You were a shoe in. You could have made a difference. Now sit back and watch Encinitas become Oxnard.
ReplyDeleteThat's okay, JP. You are doing a great job as blog administrator. Could you qualify for City Manager?
ReplyDeleteWho are Tom Brown and Paul Martens?
Did you already cover Tom Brown, JP?
I liked the no red light camera lawyer, before, because those cameras are becomming a drag on our city funds, as he predicted. He was friends with Dan, though, too, but at least he could stand up to Glenn Sabine. Dan Dalager, won't.
We know we are for Teresa Barth. Second choice is up in the air. We know who we don't want, incumbent Dalager, who has made too many mistakes, couldn't stand up to Bossypants.
Oxnard? You mean Bakersfield-by-the-sea?
ReplyDeleteDan talked him best friend, Doug, into running. They're both cut from the same cloth. Think the city is doing great. Love the developers, etc. Do not vote for the dumb and dumber "D's". If the knife sharpner can make an easy $30,000 plus working from his shop, the plumber thinks he can do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI hate coming here and just make some publicity to a book, but I happen to be reading a very very cool one, so here it goes - "El espacio público:ciudad y ciudadanía"( Public Space: city and citizenship), by Jordi Borja & Zaida Muxi. I don't think they have it translated into english, but it's one of the best, easy-reading (yet intense) stuff I've read recently.
ReplyDeleteAny book by Richard Sennett is also awesome.
JP- We love you anyway. Do want you can to prevent Encinitas from becoming Oxnard- Bakefield by the Sea. One effective action would be to dump Danny after November.
ReplyDeleteJP I think you are more effective as a rabble-rouser. To some degree you would have to become like them to be effictive in office, and you would not like that one bit.
ReplyDeleteJP wouldn't have been a shoe-in. He would've received the votes from the KLF faithful and that's about it.
ReplyDeleteThe KLF faithful are the ones that trounced props A and C. Not a bad group to be associated with.
ReplyDeleteJP could have won.
... could have ... would have ... should have. Sure.
ReplyDeleteI guess no one else in Encinitas thought A and/or C was a bad idea until KLF convinced them otherwise?! Ha! Step out of your world for a few hours a day.
To the last anonymouns- Only like 7k votes in Encinitas. I bet like .5k read this blog and talk to their neighor and tell them what the hey. Danny boy is bad for all of encinitas and especially bad for Leucadia. That dude wants us to look like Oxnard. Hes clueless. Time for Change. Teresa and one other. Plus we need a good local to have as a City Manager!
ReplyDeleteWell, the Coast News this morning was eye opening. Hope Maggie gets better soon. She says she'll do her job from the phone while she recovers.
ReplyDeleteThere was a good article about Christy Guerin not returning phone calls, missing lots of meetings for all the boards she's supposed to be sitting on. No, she can't juggle all her responsibilities.
The worst thing was that Dan Dalager was quoted as saying she's doing a "real fine job."
Wow, is his head stuck in a blower? We are definitely not happy with her, and she's not doing anyone any favors with her favortism, promoting Phil Cotton to positions that should be ratified by Council at public meetings.
Who are the candidates? I only know about Teresa, and very little about Dan's lawnmower shop neighbor, Doug Long of Bert's Plumbing. Bert was a great guy. I'm worried that Doug will just go along with Dan, who goes along with James Bond and Jerome Stocks. Who are the other two candidates?
There was another weird article about the Mossy deal, and the public works yard, in the Coast News, Pg. 3, that had a lot of misinformation and unnamed sources. It was weird. The other stories were pretty good, but this one was odd.
ReplyDeleteAlso the Planning Commission couldn't agree on whether or not to allow more apartments in Leucadia, or only Condos. . .
What people don't really realize with the Public Works Yard is that we were renting Pacific View for about $1.00 a year, and the Encinitas Union School District had scrapped its plans to make that into a big commercial development when the former superintendent retired.
The reason we need a new publics work yard is because the library project took over the old one that the City owned, free and clear! So, Gil, please don't put down our founding fathers for not planning for a public works yard. We had a great site. Our designer library is costing us over $30 million, when you factor in the $9.5 million that we are paying for the Mossy site.
That's per the Coast News, too, Gill. So why was it appraised at $8.5 million? No one is answering that question. I don't care what the City docs show, the newspapers are consistently saying the purchase price was $9.5 million, and all of us know how appraisals can be "adjusted," with a bit of wink, wink, nudge, nudge, to the appraiser!
Dan and Doug=Dumb and Dumber.
ReplyDeleteQuestion, what general service operations [public works] could not be sub contracted out? Answer, most if not all. Kerry is gone ,but his legacy remains.Time for some reevaluation of the top heavy bloated overhead at all municipal levels.
ReplyDeleteWhen Kerry hits Folsom it will be howdy doodie time for a few months. By June 2007 Kerry will make his first big play, control of the payroll. He will get the employees every other Friday off.Nine a fortnight is his opening play then he goes down town and hits the income stream and loads up his buddy consultants. Not good for Folsom.
ReplyDeleteDan saying Guerin is doing "a real fine job" sounds a lot like "Brownie, you're doin a heck of a job".
ReplyDeletej.p. you did the smart thing by not running. You are a nice guy but you don't want to be in the middle of the war between old nimbys and the new developers. It would ruin your life and make problems in your personal life. Take that pretty wife of yours on a vacation. You made the right call.
