It was fun watching that house go up. They didn't lay a foundation, they just put up some big wooden poles. Aside from just the style of it, does anybody know who/what/why they did it this way? My theory is it helps drainage for people down the hill.
Pole house building techniques are economical and more sustainable than many other techniques (flood & earthquake resistant, too). I know of a lovely pole house in Elfin Forest that unfortunately was destroyed in the Harmony Grove firestorms. The owners rebuilt the pole house again with the same plans.
