That was a great kick off winter storm. It rained for like 10 hours straight and then we experienced one of the craziest wind storms ever all night. Lots of trees came down all over town, the power went out in downtown Leucadia for a few hours and the wind caused all kinds of havoc.
The pump crews were out in the roadside park and the flooding seemed minimal. Overall the city services and SDG&E did a good job dealing with problems.
According to SDNN.com it rained 1.1 inches in Encinitas. They also reported that there was 476 car accidents in the San Diego area yesterday. That's crazy!
You know what else is crazy? Did you see what happened at City Hall tonight? Teresa got passed over for Deputy Mayor. This craziness with the three men has to stop. Who is going to step up to the plate and get rid of them?
ReplyDeleteIT WAS OBVIOUS THAT MAGGIE WAS IN ON IT! Although, she didn't support the motion, she agreed to be part of it by accepting the position of Deputy Mayor. Robert's Rules of Order lets you decline the a nomination.
ReplyDeleteAnd now there are four at city hall.
ReplyDeleteI want to state publically that I am ashamed. When I was helping Rachelle Collier with her campaign, I was also handing out flyers for Maggie. I always had conflicting emotions about this, but was assured by some people that helping Maggie was a good thing. Now I can see I used, we were robbed and this latest display at the meeting, further
ReplyDeleteproves that my first instincts about this woman were correct. I apologize to the citizens of Encinitas for my part in helping elect Maggie. I have many friends who are fighting their cancers, and never have I seen it exploited in this way before. This city council we now have is utterly despicable.
Maggie...the new Christy!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Bilbray will give her a job, too.
We watched politics in action in Encinitas last night. It is part of the new "three votes makes us right" policy that fits in as a substitute for the old rule - "we always do it that way" in case it is not appropriate. The last time the traditional mayoral/vice mayor process was ignored was when Maggie was passed over.
ReplyDeleteThis time Dalager will have an advantage in the upcoming election, being vice mayor. This proves again for you non-believers that Stocks and Dalager will do ANYTHING for political advantage - even using fake sympathy for a cancer victim as a pretext. Stocks and Dalager, with Bond on a short chain following behind may be the worst examples of politicians short of Duke Cunningham [ but they are close].
I was also amazed to see it is appropriate, legal and ethical in Encintas for City staff to lavish presents on a still seated Council member, even though no longer mayor. Would this have been OK if a corresponding amount of cash had been given under a table in a smoke filled room ?
Yes, Maggie has gone over to the Darkside. She learned to get alone with the boys, learned the tricks of the trade and now gets to be be vice mayor with no political cost [in her mind] as she voted against herself. In the history of Encinitas it will be much debated when the Darkside took her over - before or after Walgreens ?
I didn't like all the political advertising during the Xmas parade.
ReplyDeleteIt's Xmas folks, take your signs down.
Anon-7:56- It's CHRISTMAS!! Not Xmas. There is no such thing as Xmas. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you!!!
ReplyDeleteEncinitas gets what it deserves. They complacent and dumb people of Encinitas voted in these turd buckets and now they will pay the price.
ReplyDeleteMore results for our most amazing baby boomer generation! Keep up the shit work boomers. It will hassen the revolution, so we can strip you of all your so call "rights" which are more like government welfare paid for by your offspring and future generations to come.
You are incorrect. Actually it's the people younger than the Gen X'ers, the "Milliniums', who have the highest percentage of voting during an election. I learned this last year at an event the North County Times held for all the people running for office in the North County.
ReplyDeleteummmm... everyone on here should either shut up or do something about it? this is the comments board for a winter storm and all there is is bitching about city council?
ReplyDeletehow about comments about:
why are leucadia roads still so bad? when it rains there's water standing everywhere.
or:
during the power outage someone spray painted all over the front of the pannikin.
or:
trees that fell across railroad tracks
or:
how great it was to see some rain for once (real rain instead of drizzle)
How many millions did the city spend to fix the Leucadia flooding problems a few short years back? Wouldn't you think if someone approved a fix to a problem and they spent 4-5 million dollars and it failed they would be fired? I'll bet not one person responsible will be held accountable ever. I'll bet no one has ever been held responsible in the city for incompetence or been fired. Or thrown out of elected office.
ReplyDeleteDear anon 8:51,

6.Eveeeel baby boomer T. Barth would make a good president. T Barth has plenty of wherewithal to know her limits and always represent humans and Encinitans in the highest ethical standards.
7. I have no skeletons in my closet. PHSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSStttttttttttttt.

ReplyDeletebooooooooooooooring
Twice dull....
ReplyDeleteSnore post. Mary is wrong.
ReplyDelete"highest percentage of voting during an election", doesn't equate to highest votes per demographic group.
Look at the totals Mary, the boomers still elect the politicians, but hopefully not for long.
Just passing on the facts as they were presented by NC Times, and I saw the graphs for myself. Are you suggesting the NC Times is wrong? Dear Lord!!
ReplyDeleteps: the lowest number of voters are those who make over $200k a year, too.
I don't know where to look for the totals or proof that "the boomers still elect the politicans", but I'd be interested in seeing the facts. Where are they?
