  2. Chris-

We are glady you've seen the light. Education is enlightening!

The pensions are why the schools and universities have no funding, and why all the Cities have no money for needed projects.

Hopefully more of the public will wake up and demand that the politicians that created this mess be jailed.

  3. is that the end result that you want?
    putting people in jail?
for tax payers to pay for(since that is part of your argument?

that's not much of a solution.

i think that's the general gripe with y'all pensionistas
you bitch and bitch but don't offer realistic solutions.

    Robert Reich -
    (former secretary of labor)
"Public servants are convenient scapegoats. Republicans would rather deflect attention from corporate executive pay that continues to rise as corporate profits soar, even as corporations refuse to hire more workers. They don’t want stories about Wall Street bonuses, now higher than before taxpayers bailed out the Street. And they’d like to avoid a spotlight on the billions raked in by hedge-fund and private-equity managers whose income is treated as capital gains and subject to only a 15 percent tax, due to a loophole in the tax laws designed specifically for them.

It’s far more convenient to go after people who are doing the public’s work – sanitation workers, police officers, fire fighters, teachers, social workers, federal employees – to call them “faceless bureaucrats” and portray them as hooligans who are making off with your money and crippling federal and state budgets. The story fits better with the Republican’s Big Lie that our problems are due to a government that’s too big."

  4. drwdwrd,

I like the furry little troll and I agree with him on some things, but let's admit he's a hard-core leftist and talking his ideology here.

Excessive CEO pay may be a legitimate societal problem, but it's not going to bankrupt Encinitas. Pensions are.

  5. thats not the end result we want. jail for the owns who caused this mess is a simple biproduct to place responsibility were blame is do.

Man are you dumb. The solution is too simple to even have to explain. But for you I will-End the ridiculous pension payments currently being made and all the current liability. Let the Cities go bankrupt and let the courts figure out how much of haircut the unfunded liability receiptants will take. I would hope somewhere between a 50% to 75% reduction.

Two things. It shouldn't be the middle class (lower working class) that takes the hit and it shouldn't be passed off to our youth.

Now get back to work slacker.

  6. drwdwrd,

I have a serious problem with poor corporate governance. I no longer invest in large cap companies with ridiculous ceo compensation. Unfortunately, your tax dollars go to pay those big wigs. CalPERS takes your tax dollars and passes it off to wall street schemers. Maybe Robert should take a stand against that.

There are plenty of solutions to the pension problem. Some are very easy and simple. Unfortunately, greed, dishonesty and power get in the way of elected officials fixing things.

    drwdwrd,
Do you think the current pension system is fair, equitable, sustainable, and doesn't burden our children?

  7. Focus.
Maybe you folks could actually read the topic and comment on same.
I am sure that this will elicit name calling, character assassination and wishing I get food poisoning and continued rants on your myopic focus.
For the sake of JP and Kevin and all their efforts, stop this.
I feel confident that you folks that ignore the topic and bitch about PENSIONS, do nothing else but bitch and do nothing else.
Please respect others. Stay on the subject.

  9. 2 things.

    1. Part of the problem with "your" side is that you almost always resort to name calling and insults from the get go to anyone that might have a differing opinion.
i don't think you're dumb for your opinion. but i do find you pushy, rude and narrow minded.

    2. Paul Robin Krugman is an American economist, professor of Economics and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, Centenary Professor at the London School of Economics, and an op-ed columnist for The New York Times. In 2008, Krugman won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for his contributions to New Trade Theory and New Economic Geography.

Robert Bernard Reich is an American political economist, professor, author, and political commentator. He served in three national administrations, including that of Presidents Ford, Carter, and as Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton, from 1993 to 1997. A graduate of Dartmouth College, Oxford University and Yale Law School, he has been considered one of America's foremost political economists.

so what you’re telling me is that by siting the two individuals above makes me dumb???

    what makes you so smart?
can you honestly say that you are more knowledgable about economics than the two individuals above?

  11. Chris-

Yes. very much so. My intelligence comes from an area of intelligence called common sense.

Our forefathers had it and many Americans still have it.

the communistic society doesn't work, because the easy riders justify themselves making more then the minion. Just watch animal farm. Thats what Americas become. The government is symbolized by the pigs.
