Spiffy!

  1. It looks like the Jehovahs Witness Watch Tower magazine cover, where it depicts an idealic picture of Paradise - lions and lambs cuddling, butterflies fliting about, happy people having an eternal picnic on a perpetually sunny day, an honest city council . . we must be in Hell!

  2. I look forward to kicking back on that shaded concrete incline and sparking up my trusty old crack pipe.

  3. Here come the fences to keep us off the tracks. Now we can walk a half mile to get a legal crossing. What was wrong with at grade crossings all over the length of the tracks?

  5. Looks nice, better then I thought it would. I still worry it will be used as a bathroom though.

  6. Jeffrey, there is no need to worry - it will certainly be used as a bathroom. In fact, in that picture I think that I see a couple having an intimate moment back by the stairs.

Stairs!?! For $5m we aren't even going to get a handicap accessible crossing? Maybe I had better shut up before I add another $1m to the price tag.

  7. What about a walking bridge over the track? Afraid of jumpers?

  8. 12:49 Accurate JW observation. A nice, racially balance, evenly spaced, over-dressed beach town atmosphere (except for the couple making out in the background). But reminds me of a Woody Allen quote: "The lion shall lie down with the lamb, but the lamb won't get much sleep".
But you're wrong about honest city council. They know there's no such thing. One question though. What happened to surfers?

    10:48: ixnay on the tairssnay.

11:29: No ugly overhead bridges premitted in the new world order or cover of the Watchtower.

  9. Reality will be more like bums hanging out on bench begging people for money so they can get more wasted. Child molestor two casing the area waiting for night fall so he can grab some kid from behind pillar no. 3, and the couple that just walked out swears they will never use that discussing crossing because it smells just a vile as Oceanside's Pedestrian Undercrossing. A mix between puke and shit smells all summer long. Oh Boy, who ever was behind spending $5,000,000 for this Gem while letting $2 million in beach grants to back to the state unused, should be fired. But they won't in Encinitas, they will probably get promoted.

  10. Yeah, the 5mil woulda been a lot better spent on at grade crossings. Less money, maintenance, doo doo, pee pee, caw caw, pervs, peds, drunks, and republicans. And less people like the gentleman on the right petting his invisible dog.

  11. What about a walking bridge over the track?

The double-decker freight cars & requirement of handicap-accessibility combined would make them enormous.
