Roundybout

Michael D. Pattinson's favorite roundabout, located in China of course. Looks like a great time.

  1. Are you sure that’s China? Looks like Oceanside after they build the Charger stadium. It might also be Palomar Airport Road and El Camino Real after they get done developing every square inch of Carlsbad and San Marcos. Good Job Patterson- You must be proud of yourself.

Its kindof funny. I wonder if the Chinaman is happier now with an Car stuck in traffic eating his big mac and drinking his Coke rushing to his desk job cause his boss is threatening to fire him or does he thinks back to the more peaceful times when he was on his bike listening to birds sing on his way to the market to trade some fish for rice? Confuses say?

What the American going to evolve into? Jabba the Hut?

  3. No, NO You are all wrong. That is an artist rendering of the Traffic Engineer's proposed solution to handle the traffic loads at Encinitas Blvd and HW101 10 years from now after Smartgrowth and the affordable housing overlay are fully implemented. The six lanes on HW101 are going to reek havic with downtown Encinitas's small town feel.

  8. Thank God Leucadia Blvd. is only one lane in each direction and zoned to stay that way. The wider the street the more damage to the Community safety and character.

Looks like China is buying into the LA road design theory. Oh- Level D service at the intersection, let widen it and create a Sports Arena fiasco.

  9. Anonymous, people object to three roundabouts, period. You don't. Of course you call anyone who objects to what you want whiners and naysayers.

It's your way or the highway, right? Can't you see how YOU are being closeminded, selfish, and rude?

Of course it's easier to call people names and attack our character than to address any of the issues that have been brought up. Such as the lack of release of the traffic study, lack of a specific one year study of the Santa Fe Roundabout to see if there are more or less accidents at that intersection, lack of study of putting in median landscaping and sidewalks without roundabouts.

The alternatives have not been considered and explored. A "conceptual plan" that people didn't know about until after the fact, is not set in cement.

  10. Anonynous-Clueless-
Delay, delay, delay, keep Leucadia ugly at any cost!!! That's your plan!! Keep it Ugly!! No sidewalks, no streetlights, no landscaping!!! Put down any change!! Whine, whine, whine.
These roundabouts work fine in Mexico!! And please don't tell me this isn't Mexico, it should be, you live in a 3rd world community, with 1st world taxes!!!

In reality, you need not worry, the city is running out of $$$ and Leucadia will soon see ALL the budget cut backs!!! No $$$ for Leucadia!!! EVER!!! Pity is has such potential, but that all it will ever have. Leucadia is a lost cause!!! And you can rejoyce in it's ugliness!!

Staggerin down the 101 knowing that beer isn't a lost cause, it's your RSPB!!

  11. anonymous-clueless
    You are both of those.
Have you studied round-a-bouts? They reduce speed and reduce accidents where ever they are.

Why you object to a plan that will benefit all of Leucadia by making the Blvd more safe, functional and beasutiful is a mystery. It is obvious that you don't whant progress and want to keep Leucadia Funky.

I suggest you start a petition to tell the city council to leave leucadia alone and see how many people feel like you do. I for one don't and the changes planned will only make our community a better place to live.

  12. Roundabouts are super funky. That is why I like them.

  13. Amigo RSPB: Roundabouts don't work fine in Mexico. In Tijuana all of them on main streets have stoplights or stop signs. What's the point then? The four big ones on Paseo de los Heroes look like the Chinese one, except more controlled with the stoplights or stop signs. Las glorietas en México son una pesadilla, no una solución de congestión. ¡No seas cabrón, pendejo!

  14. The newest nightmare is the planed 1100 new homes just back of SEH which will pore an additional 1500 cars through the community. It is time that someone from the city, a council member or two perhaps put their two cents in about some traffic mitigation money from thios increase because it will directly effect our current traffic flow. We probably can't stop it cause the developers have their way, especially in San Marcos, but there is no reason not to ask for a million or two a year from them for traffic flow mitigation. If they say no then the first round-about should be replaced by a toll plaza for non residents without resident transponder. Better yet a toll plaza on RSR just before the home depot.
    Really.

  15. Muchas gracias!

Funky is a musical term that denotes something cool, hip.

Because you osama aka bum head, think "roundabouts have been studied," doesn't mean our roundabout or proposed roundabouts have.

Why would you want to look before you leap? anonymous is right, the roundabouts in Mexico are completely different. We should study the one on Santa Fe, which is similar to the three proposed on Leucadia, small radius, only one lane of traffic within the roundabout, only two streets crossing at right angles, to see if the accident rate goes up or down.

You like the aesthetics, which is fine. But we can get the most bang for our taxpayer buck by considering the capital improvements already underway before rushing willy nilly into another ill-conceived mess.

  16. We are supposed to be getting sidewalks on 101. We can lobby to get them along Leucadia Blvd, too. There is no rule that says no roundabouts, then no sidewalks and no planted center medians.

Is Osama also Roadside Park Bum?

Seems like the only two who favor three roundabouts.

  17. Babble (AKA Paul Martens)-

Just because you have eight personalities all talking to each other in your head, doesn't mean the rest of us count you as eight individual people.

Dr. Lorri-Please help Babble, Paul,Pablo, Mr. Martens and the other 4 personalities to be able to learn. If he can't I think someone should break into his trailer and shatter his computor so we don't have to listen to his rhetoric anymore.

Please my fellow bloggers are not that stupid,

    Sorry Babble try again.

  20. Anonymous-
    Puto!!!
You miss the point again, verdad?? The point being that you live in a 3rd world community!! You can spend all the $$ you want studying the varios roundabouts through out the world, it won't change Leucadia into a 1st world community!!
Your tax $$$ is wasted by the city and you think it's OK!! What do you get from the city?? A bunch of dead flowers in the center median of 101. Boy,o boy aren't you lucky!!!

Curse me all you want PUTO, I don't mind cause I'm drunker than you'll ever be and that's good!!

Caminando por 101, muy baracho como siempre!! Yo soy el RSPB( Roadside Park Baracho)

  21. Why would you embarass my religion by calling me a roadside park bum? I don't drink but I see your country and read this blog.

Some of the bloggers would appreciate living in the desert. Nothing ever changes there except the wind blown sand. It stays funky all year around.

The infidels came in and found oil and changed our culture. With my new found culture I came to Funky Leucadia. I have seen change and know that it is not bad. Those in the desert that didn't want change are still in their tents and riding their camels. I guess the people that don't want change can still ride camels in Leucadia.

  22. Amigo RSPB: Tu español es terrible. La palabra correcta es "borracho." Go back to Spanish class. My English is better than your Spanish. Too bad. But I'm happy to take you to TJ and give you a tour of the roundabouts. ¡Que te vaya bien, amigo!

  23. Gil I like your idea. If not a toll both, we could neck down Olivenhain to one lane going west to El Camino Real and Leucadia Blvd. That will fix the problem.

  24. I'd put money on the prospect that only 1 roundabout will be built in the first phase of improvements for Leucadia Blvd.

After the construction documents are complete and reviewed, the project will be bid. We all know what happens then. The bids will be significantly higher than the monry allocated, and the project will be slashed down to size eliminating one roundabout.

There would be too much public outcry in Leucadia if something wasn't built, so the project couldn't be postponed or eliminated. Simply whacked.

Your credibility about me or any-
one else trying to direct efforts
    toward solving problems is called
    into serious question because you
    avoid identification and you appear
    to be rather uneducated.
    Thank you for your comments!
Now give credence to what it's all

  27. Dr. Lorri has two "r's."

That person copying Paul Martens is only making a fool of himself, and discrediting his position, which is for three roundabouts, forget about the cost, at taxpayers' expense; forget about seeing if the one at Santa Fe is working.

Foolish, foolish, foolish. And not a funny, or an effective mimic, either, copycat. No wonder you won't come out with your identity. You wouldn't be so free to attack others, or to act like you know it all.

    You obviously do not.

  28. Paul Martens got a few votes. He showed some courage and initiative to run.

I think the guy who is so obsessed with him could be Doug Long, who feels "Pablo" spoiled the election for him.

If so, lots of us are glad. We didn't need someone who is plumb on the side of higher density, more work for "independent contractors" hired by the city to build frivolous capital improvements, like roundabouts, before the traffic report is in, before a study of the Santa Fe roundabout is accomplished.
