The eucalyptus trees in the first center median in north Leucadia's coast highway 101 are looking sharp after their recent trimming.
Last month's stormy high winds also gave these trees a good cleaning.
It would be wise for the city of Encinitas to put all the Hwy101 tress on a regular trimming schedule.
There are those in our city who want all the big eucs on Hwy101 removed.
News stories about Leucadia's trees seem to attract angry online comments voicing a hardcore anti-tree sentiment.
Phil Cotton is the city manager of Encinitas. Phil Cotton when at public works, was in charge of street tree maintenance. Before he came to the city he did landscape maintenance. Oddly, there was very little maintenance done to Leucadia's Hwy101 tree canopy during those years.
I heard that the city is going to discuss developing an Urban tree management plan in March.
This is the only expense the City will make for the whole year. The rest of our tax dollars will be spent on paying off the huge debt for our beloved employees enormous pensions. Sad.

ReplyDeleteSabine has responsibility for advising the council on legal issues, which include compliance with the Brown Act. He failed to stop the emails circulating at the city that were establishing city policy.
ReplyDeleteThis had been going on a long time. Sabine now says that the city will establish a policy. Sabine is late and only doing it because he got caught. If Marco Gonzalez pursues his law suit, he will win.
Probably not worth doing, even if legal fees are paid by the city. The issue has become public. We all got to see Sabine with his pants around his ankles.
Sabine screwed up again. But the three men will keep him on the payroll.

ReplyDeleteYour fixation with Sabine is misplaced and unless you are part of the council majority you have no idea if Glenn screwed up other than noting that he still has a job. He has his job because he was not sincerely asked by his boss to ensure they were in compliance. He has done exactly what he his bosses have told him to do.
Go after the council and start with Jerome and Danny.
Sabine is an attorney and is required to advise the City about legal issues whether or not asked to. If he doesn't, he could be sued for malpractice. Despite appearances, he is not Charlie McCarthy. Anybody up for suing Sabine?

ReplyDeletecause Sabine is reactive and not proactive. Otherwise, the City would not have a wooden plank linking the access across the entry way on E street to the other side. Talk about a workers comp claim!
