The Encinitas Community Park (Hall Park) has a giant pit in it now. That must be where they are going to bury all the contaminated surface soil.
That pit is the biggest and most expensive manifestation of Mayor Stocks' lies (a.k.a. super extreme nacho cheese covered spin).
There is contaminated soil on the Hall park property. Trying to hide the contamination cost the City of Encinitas a lot of money.
Bury the $tock$ nightmare legacy in that sludge hole.

That is 49,000 cu yards of toxic soil that the county required to have moved off site. Stocks led the charge and paid a LaJolla law firm big$ to allow the soil to be forever burried on site. And yes Stocks repeatedly lied about the soil being clean. We are handing to our kids a permimently contaminated regional sports park.

Well, told ya so.
The city states that there is "an acceptable cancer risk" with the contaminated soil buried on site.
ReplyDeleteI would rather have no cancer risk.
There is a risk. If homes were being built there, the City would require removal of the contaminated dirt. But becuase it will be used for recreational purposes the City says the exposure won't be harmful. The junk science used to support this conclusion was paid for by the City. Thank goodness my kids are too old to play recreational league sports because I wouldn't want them rolling in that dirt twice a week.
ReplyDeleteThey are burying the city budget in that huge regional sports complex. Not only was the RINO bad for quality of life issues, Jerome Stocks was terrible for everyone in encinitas, unless you were a City Employee pension receipant or a CEO of a"non-profit" sports league.
ReplyDeleteHe led the transfer of $2 million from Beacons Beach to Moonlight Beach, He dropped Leucadia Blvd. Walkways and Bike Improvements from the Budget again after 8 years of being promised it would be completed, he led the charge in rebuilding three $5 million dollar fire stations (not including land prices), and overpaid dearly for a limited public works yard.
The new council has some digging to do to get us out of his mess. But the clean up can and will come quickly.
Rename the park- The North County Regional Sports Complex.

Please continue your concerns about toxin exposure at the park when it's finished and chemicals are used on the turf and landscaping that are known carcinogens and endocrine disruptors. Toxin won't just be underground, they will be on the surface.
