Ecke Ranch Shopping Center Refinanced for $63.4 Million Smackers

Taking advantage of the continuing low interest rates, a joint venture of Los Angeles-based Zelman Development Co. and Carlsbad-based the Carltas Co. has refinanced Encinitas Ranch Town Center. The JV refinanced the 503,000-sf property for $64.3 million.

Gee, that was easy. Didn't someone suggest like a year ago for Ecke to use his shopping center equity to modernize his greenhouses?

  2. Will they pay back in one lump sum the sales tax the city "loaned" to them years ago?

  3. Too bad some of that wasted money Caltras/Paul III spent on grassroots not campaign could not have gone to community and art grants. Then the Eckes could have been heros again. As is is, they didn't want to be part of the city, pay all the extra taxes, fees, until they decided to devlop over 800 acres of the Eckes Ranch in 1994. Now we have Encinitas Ranch, which will never be Rancho Santa Fe, Christy.

How expensive your home is, how many swanky new outfits you have are not what impresses people. It's where your sense of fair play and compassion are directed. Do you have these traits?

Why is the City wasting so much money on bogus litigation, paying its own City Attorneys ungodly amounts for naught? If we boycott the parade, it will be because it is sponsored by our corrupt Council, who, right now, collectively, are a bag of tubes.

We love the kids, though. Please people, vote out incumbents this coming year!
