I received this beautiful Poinsettia as a gift. I named it Poiny and I thought I would show it around.
Poiny at Moonlight Beach.
"Poiny, did you know that acting legend Douglas Fairbanks built the La Paloma?"
Everybody knows that." sighed Poiny.
Poiny thought it would be fun to live in a house shaped like a boat.
Poiny got really excited when he saw the billboard for the new Mel Gibson film. "Mel Gibson is a great American!" exclaimed Poiny.
Poiny takes a trip thru the round-a-bout.
Poiny thought SRF was pretty and a nice place.
Poiny got a cup of coffee and a donut at VG's.
I showed Poiny city hall. "This is where your daddy exerts mass influence", I explained. "OOOOooooh", said Poiny.
Poiny wants to get a burrito at Juanita's.
mmmm...Poiny like burrito.
Poiny is a lucky cat to live and die in Encinitas.

ReplyDeleteIf you don't believe poinsettias are toxic to cats and dogs, I suggest you speak to your veterianrian first before you kill a helpless animal. You are right, not all sappy plants are toxic to cats and dogs, however, Poiny is. Please don't spread information you don't know about.

The truth is now reveled. The Ecke's hate cats. Now for some of you that may be a good thing, but for me, I won't ever trust a poinsettia or Ecke again. Be careful J.P. You never know what else Poiny may do.

ReplyDeleteI am going to have my dog audition for "Heroes" because he must have special powers. He ate an entire poinsettia and NOTHING happened. Well, he did walk around with a huge doggie erection for about an hour, but he certainly didn't seem to mind.

J.P. ... Be aware, be very aware. Poiny may be a mind control robot from the Ecke's bent on total world domination. There plan is to start small, very very small by taking over Encinitas. Of course they can't take over Encinitas without taking over the Leucadia Blog. Better change the password on your computer and sleep with a hedge clipper under your pillow. Poiny may look all festive and gay, but deep down you know he's poisonous (at least to pets.)

Did you know that Poinsettias are not the deadly flowers that popular legend has made them out to be?
Poinsettias (Euphorbia pulcherrima) are part of a family of plants known as spurges. During the 1820s Joel Robert Poinsett, the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico at the time, first brought poinsettias to the U.S. from a Mexican city he had visited. It was during the early part of the 20th century that the myth of the plant's toxicity began when the two-year-old child of a U.S. Army officer was alleged to have become ill and died from consuming a poinsettia leaf.
As a result of this rumor, the toxic potential of poinsettia has become highly exaggerated. In reality, poinsettia ingestions typically produce only mild to moderate gastrointestinal tract irritation, which may include drooling, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Therefore, while keeping this plant out of the reach of your pet to avoid stomach upset is still a good idea, pet owners need not fear the poinsettia and banish it from their homes for fear of a fatal exposure.
Tell that to my dead cat who ate one of Ecke's poinsettias. Maybe only Ecke poinsettia's are poisonious. Try it on your own cat and see. Then let us know.

Then your child will be really sad when it dies and you won't have to buy him any Christmas presents." Instead just buy Dr. Lori's book on Saying Goodbye to the Pet you Love. I know from a good source that Poiny is allergic to cats and really wants nothing to do with them but he does like sitting in the window doing nothing just like a cat..
