Showing my new Poinsettia around

I received this beautiful Poinsettia as a gift. I named it Poiny and I thought I would show it around.

Poiny at Moonlight Beach.

"Poiny, did you know that acting legend Douglas Fairbanks built the La Paloma?"
Everybody knows that." sighed Poiny.

Poiny thought it would be fun to live in a house shaped like a boat.

Poiny got really excited when he saw the billboard for the new Mel Gibson film. "Mel Gibson is a great American!" exclaimed Poiny.

Poiny takes a trip thru the round-a-bout.

Poiny thought SRF was pretty and a nice place.

Poiny got a cup of coffee and a donut at VG's.

I showed Poiny city hall. "This is where your daddy exerts mass influence", I explained. "OOOOooooh", said Poiny.

Poiny wants to get a burrito at Juanita's.

mmmm...Poiny like burrito.

  6. Isn't Poiny from South America but likes us to think he grew up locally? I love Poiny no matter...

  7. Whatever you do, don't let your cat or dog take a bite out of Poiny. He is poisonous to them. Funny how the Ecke's don't mention that on their "how to feed" instructions. Or maybe I missed the fine print.

  8. Is Poiny in the country illegally? Will Bossy Pants and Dalager demand he be deported along with all this friends?

  9. Poiny is not toxic. Not all plants with milky sap are. PIII will eat it just to prove it. He does it all the time.

  10. If you don't believe poinsettias are toxic to cats and dogs, I suggest you speak to your veterianrian first before you kill a helpless animal. You are right, not all sappy plants are toxic to cats and dogs, however, Poiny is. Please don't spread information you don't know about.

  11. I heard that Poinsettias are not poinsenous to cats and dogs (nor humans). Where did you get your information?

  12. Has anyone actually had a pet die from eating a poinsettia? Or know of anyone?

  13. I love JP and Poiny. I needed to get out and round about.

Would Poiny like to go to the Council Meeting on 12/6? Day after tomorrow! I'm just wondering who will be mayor. I don't want 00, Scotch & Seven, who's in line, as deputy mayor.

He can be the big chief on the water boards. Please think about retiring in a couple of years, Mr. Bond. I admired you when you came out for an independent line item audit. But that spirit seems squelched, now. Maybe you need some kind of herbal tea?

  14. Here is the scoop on cats and toxic things. The 10 most toxic things to cats are: aspirin, dye, laxatives, rat poison, antifreezae, deodorant, mothballs, suntan lotion, show polish and poinsettias. If you don't believe me, call the San Diego Veterinary Medical Association. They are located in La Mesa and there phone number is 619-640-9587.

  15. Fuck you, Poiny.

  16. Any one that could poison a cat you don't what to expect from them. Keep a close eye on Poiny he may be sneaky.

I'll bet his red color is a disguise. Any pointsetta that isn't all red must have something to hide. Again Point must be sneaky.

I guess Poiny would do great on our city council. poiny fits the mold.

  17. The truth is now reveled. The Ecke's hate cats. Now for some of you that may be a good thing, but for me, I won't ever trust a poinsettia or Ecke again. Be careful J.P. You never know what else Poiny may do.

  19. My cats sniffed Poiny and like to sleep under him but they don't lick him or eat him.

  20. I am going to have my dog audition for "Heroes" because he must have special powers. He ate an entire poinsettia and NOTHING happened. Well, he did walk around with a huge doggie erection for about an hour, but he certainly didn't seem to mind.

  21. I hope the two extra trips around the roundabout shuffled the dirt near the root ball in such a way as to significantly shorten Poiny’s pointless life.

I hope to triumphantly force-fart on Poiny, wilting the flowers with the Juanita’s-powered mini-explosion and resulting death cloud.

  22. J.P. ... Be aware, be very aware. Poiny may be a mind control robot from the Ecke's bent on total world domination. There plan is to start small, very very small by taking over Encinitas. Of course they can't take over Encinitas without taking over the Leucadia Blog. Better change the password on your computer and sleep with a hedge clipper under your pillow. Poiny may look all festive and gay, but deep down you know he's poisonous (at least to pets.)

Have you rented Invasion of the Body Snatchers lately? No just close your eyes and ...

  23. I Googled the poinsettia poisonous issue and found this on the ASPCA website for all you cat lovers:

    Poinsettias
Did you know that Poinsettias are not the deadly flowers that popular legend has made them out to be?

Poinsettias (Euphorbia pulcherrima) are part of a family of plants known as spurges. During the 1820s Joel Robert Poinsett, the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico at the time, first brought poinsettias to the U.S. from a Mexican city he had visited. It was during the early part of the 20th century that the myth of the plant's toxicity began when the two-year-old child of a U.S. Army officer was alleged to have become ill and died from consuming a poinsettia leaf.

As a result of this rumor, the toxic potential of poinsettia has become highly exaggerated. In reality, poinsettia ingestions typically produce only mild to moderate gastrointestinal tract irritation, which may include drooling, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Therefore, while keeping this plant out of the reach of your pet to avoid stomach upset is still a good idea, pet owners need not fear the poinsettia and banish it from their homes for fear of a fatal exposure.

  24. Tell that to my dead cat who ate one of Ecke's poinsettias. Maybe only Ecke poinsettia's are poisonious. Try it on your own cat and see. Then let us know.

I can see the Ecke's now. Their new slogan will be "Buy our poinsettias and see your cat throw up, drool and have diarahhea. A great holiday game just in time for Christmas. Then your child will be really sad when it dies and you won't have to buy him any Christmas presents." Instead just buy Dr. Lori's book on Saying Goodbye to the Pet you Love. Are you sure this isn't Dr. Lori posting just to sell books. Ha, we caught you.

  25. I know from a good source that Poiny is allergic to cats and really wants nothing to do with them but he does like sitting in the window doing nothing just like a cat..

  26. LOL

I mean it. Really laughing hard out loud. Bob Marley singing about Natty Drad going around the roundabout was the kicker.

  27. Anyone would be toxic after eating a Juanita's burrito.
