  1. I am not sure what this is all about, but I want to suggest that people look at the first reading of ordinance 2007-13, an amendment ot the City Code that would allow the sheriff to remove people from a Council meeting for disorderly conduct. However, I haven't yet figured out what disorderly conduct means. Glenn Sabine threatened to sue a La Mesa man for telling off the mayor in a La Mesa Council meeting about a year ago. This Encinitas ordinance, which had its first reading at last weeks Council meeting, and can be found on the agenda items, seems to go as far as letting the sheriff remove citizens and fine them. I dont know about any of you, but I am not sure that this is such a great idea. What some Council members may view as disorderly, others may view as a right to be heard. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? It still has to have a second reading to pass. Please make sure you let your voice be heard if you you do not want it stifled.

  2. I was at the meeting. The council voted 3-2 with Houlihan and Barth voting no for this ordinance. Barth said she thought it was ment to intimidate the public. Watch the video.

  3. Does anone know when the 2nd reading is to take place? Unfortunately I cannot seem to watch the videos at this time, as my computer (a Mac) has some sort of glitch that won't let me. I am attempting to fix it. So, for now, I will get the DVD's for $15.00 from the City. If the second reading is soon, perhaps those interested should make their voices heard. I have already sent an e-mail to the Council and Phil Cotton. Also, there is a Council meeting on Dec. 5th to talk about the Brown Act.The more there, the better we may get accountability for their ALLEGED violations of the Act.Ihave asked an attorney friend of mine to review the Act, as a back-up for Calaware's response to Teresa. Will share the information when I reveive it.

Good report on the smoking ordinance Mary. Thank you.
