NEW YEAR'S DAY LABYRINTH AT THE BEACH Art guild member Kirkos will create one of his meditation labyriths on the sand of Stonesteps Beach in Encinitas on New Year's Day . This will be an interactive event and will take several hours to complete (1:30 to 5pm)
Guild artist Kirk "Kirkos" Van Allyn will be creating a labyrinth on the sand of Stonesteps Beach in Encinitas on New Year's Day 2009. A public access stairs offers the way to reach the beach below and participate. The labyrinth can also be viewed from the bluffs above.
The public is invited to bring gifts for the labyrinth. Items should be biodegradable such as flowers, colored stones and coarse salt. Wax candles are also an option and add a lovely touch. At the end of the evening Kirkos and Guild members have volunteered to remove the candles..

We do not need to advertise our very small beach access to a bunch of out of towners or locals either. There is no parking, facilities and we just get overrun. If some transplant wants to have an ego trip, go somewhere else like Mission Beach or Oceanside. And Kirk, don't come back. Your supposed art ain't as good as you think.

There is no change here. Artwork has been created on the sads of Leucadia since the township was formed. Those that cast cobble should get back in their Hybrid cars and return to the OC. They probably wouldn't even know where the Neighbor Savor was, let alone the flee market, and god forbid they remember the Flower Days.

It is the green and sustainable way to live. I conserve water, electricity, and natural gas. My carbon footprint is smaller than your big toe. You are a carbon kook and a water hog if you change your clothes everyday.

ReplyDeleteFor those of us that remember when Netune was a quiet two land road, horses rode on the beaches and all that is good about Leucadia was, still is.
Life will continue to be as good as a chili cheese omlete cooked by Roger and served up by Susie Moore!
If you want to board the Hale-Bopp express, just be there tomorrow with all the other omlete brains. There won't be any shortage of wacko's with flowing robes and males with purses. If you miss it, there is a Kool-Aid stand at Beacons in the evening.

ReplyDeleteI don't see the need to tell thousands of people that would never have found it on their own. I have no problem with tourists, they are inevitable, but myself and many others think this should have been done at a larger venue with adequate parking and facilities. See how you like it when day after day all summer long people invade your street throwing trash out, letting their dogs poop, urniating in public, and some other not nice vices, then tell me how you like it. When winter comes we have somewhat of a reprive. Plus this guy is no local, just another transplant with an ego.

Well, I wish everyone well, but don't like the crowds, either. I do appreciate artistic expressions of creativity, and am glad that others can enjoy. I also question the "venue," but wish the artist and everyone well.

Someone here sure does like to have a roundabout agenda, and seems to associate anyone's not appreciating the concept of five in a row in just over two miles to be "fear of change."
Oh well. Peace anyway. Call all the names you want. It really reflects on you, not the ones you target with your criticism.
I couldn't believe how many people showed up to interact with, observe and help Kirkos with the labyrinth. There were hundreds. Creative work and glad he's getting recognition for what he loves to do.
ReplyDelete5 roundabouts in 2 miles is no big deal. The 2 on leucadia are within a 1/4 of a mile of each other and work great.
ReplyDeleteI rather the City put in roundabouts at the intersections that need some control over a stop sign or Signal. Maybe the City will drop one of the roundabouts. Hell I would love to see another all way stop go in, but that would never happen.

A lot of residents of town are opposed to roundabouts and the extent of the plan proposed for Leucadia, but that is not a excuse to call them names. We all want a nice plan that that the majority can get behind.
ReplyDeleteSo lets start off the new year being nice to one another and not just trashing those with different viewpoints.
Now for the maze yesterday at the beach. Way to many people make it necessary to hold it a different venue next year. Where?
The majority is behind the current plan alternative 4. I am sure it will have some minor tweaking. I could care less if they dropped one or two roundabouts. Put it a bunch of stop signs that will slow traffic.

The plan will be supported by the majority and I bet it has roundabouts in it, because they are safer and more efficient and look better than Signals and Stop Signs.
How exactly are comments incorporated? Haven't some people made comments that are anti-roundabout? Does that mean there won't be roundabouts?
