The cut through issues for neighborhoods are not just North- South issues on 101. There are East-West traffic issues to I-5 from the East too! Santa Fe to Lake to Birmingham is a cut through route to the freeway during the rush hour period. Escondido uses this route every day to get to I-5 to go South in the morning.
3:52 - Hogwash. The Streetscape contraversy is over. Deal with it.
4:42 - Fear Monger. What idiots in Escondido. You mean to tell me, after 25 minutes on the crooked road west, Escondidans snake their way over to Encinitas and take 1. El Camino South 2. Right turn onto Santa Fe. 3. Left turn onto Lake. 4. Right turn onto Birmingham 5. Then Left onto fwy 5
Instead of the simpler and quicker
1. El Camino South, directly to freeway 5 South? Who you kiddin?
6:56 - Baloney Why would Escondidans cruise through our neighborhoods to get to Hillcrest when they can save 50 miles round trip by taking the View Point exit in Cardiff? Plain thilly.
I don't know about escondido, but San Marcos and Carlsbad does cut through encinitas. Encinitas cuts through neighborhoods too because our arteries are clogged.
The streetscape has been voted on. So have a lot of other things that Meathead has been willing to comment on.
They need to make Orpheus Ave a four lane artery to handle all of the daily traffic. Come down Orpheus Avenue in the morning and afternoon during commuting hours, school drop off, dog park hours. It's great tell everyone!
It's our hidden commuter jewel!
Great way to bypass I-5, Vulcan and 101. Just remove the speed humps and stop sign at Union, increase the speed limit to 55 and were good to go.
The hard cold reality is SB will have their streetscape finished before Encinitas turns a spade of dirt. SB, just a more advanced and 'git er done' community.
I will. Property Values in Solona Beach are much better and will continue to go up. Because their council doesn't sell out to the developer every chance that comes up. Encinitas council majority blows. Its equivalent to the difference better Encinitas and Oceanside.
In Solana Beach can design, permit and construct a 7 million dollar project in two years. In Encinitas a $5 million dollar project takes 5 to 7 years to complete. Why the difference?
7:07 - It takes so long to get things done in Encinitas because lots of people don't want change - either they just don't understand, or they want "no change", period, or some other communities of Encinitas don't want Leucadia to improve so they can prosper at our expense.
The good news is that we prevailed, and got a great Streetscape plan funded - no small task. Thank you Leucadia 101 Mainstreet Association and other residents who stayed the course.
Democracy takes time, but the results will be worth it.
That’s why you smell. You don't change anything including your cloths. You’re stagnant and decomposing as you read this. You are the stench of Leucadia Funk. Luckily there are more positive sides to Leucadia Funky that make up for your negatives. Ying Yang I guess.
7:49; As a matter of fact I do, thanks for noticing.
11:58; Yes, meet us 6:30am Sunday at the Pannikin for orientation. We're petitioning from the ocean to the freeway from 7am till dark. We're also trying to see if any lawyers will help us preserve the natural wear of that pothole - like the city has done for Beacons.
Coast cities to encourage cut-through neighborhood traffic.

ReplyDeleteHow do you encourage "cruising"?
ReplyDeleteGo to Hillcrest and you will find out.
ReplyDeleteI'd need a plate in my pants.
ReplyDeleteKeep Leucadia Trendy!
ReplyDeleteWhat fear mongering, hogwash and baloney!

Don't know about the idiots in Escondido but the Village Park idiots use it every day to avoid the signals on Encinitas Blvd and Santa Fe.
ReplyDeleteGeez it's a Highway people are suppose to drive on it what the hell do you expect.
ReplyDeleteWhat 3:31 lacks in grammar skills, 9:51 makes up for with complete meaninglessness. But thanks for recognizing that I comment on things voted for.
ReplyDeleteThe comments on the signonsanddiego story are hilarious. They have a real brain trust going over there.

Lower the speed limit to 35 so NEVs can drive to leucadia. Encinitas downtown is NEV friendly. Green is good.
ReplyDeleteso What happened to Dr. Lorri?
ReplyDeletemeathead = dickhead... You seem to think you know everything.

You are right. Please move there.

the difference is there is no extra money in encinitas.
ReplyDeleteThe difference is slow project management.
The difference is the public is too afraid to press staff on their progress and planning.
The big pothole in the middle of the Leucadia Blvd intersection right now is totally funky. Fight to save it.
ReplyDeleteWhy change? I like Leucadia better than Solana Beach. I live in Leucadia because I like it better. I can live where ever I want.
