  1. Sheeesh, it wasn't crappy to begin with. California is full of weeners and whiners.

  2. Cool! Is the City finally adding that roundabout at Hygeia and completing all the walkways, bikeways, and landscaping along that street that’s been planned since 2001?

Way to go City folks! After patiently waiting, we are finally seeing some love towards Leucadia!!!

    Thanks City!!

  4. 70% of all tax dollars taken from citizens of Encinitas go to employee salaries, benefits and retirement costs. The 30% left over is for infrastructure maintenance, improvements, rental and housing assistance.

  5. 5:01- You clearly live in a different world. I hope its nice there.

  6. I'd rather the real world be the one you think you are living in.

  7. Overlay project? Is it already necessary? How about building the last roundabout, repaving Vulcan and a building a sidewalk all the way to Encinitas Blvd first. Not to mention 101. On a side note... Dan promised thet the City would repair any pot holes within 24 hrs after being reported. How many have you all seen after all the storms? I counted at least 100 so far around town.

  8. Ahh... that must be crickets I hear. Well he may be gone but the policy should still be in place as nothing has really changed since the election.

  12. Remove the roundabouts since people clearly don't know how they work. Hint: that isn't a stop sign and you still need to use your blinker if you are changing direction.

  13. Can someone just please tell me what this "OVERLAY" Project exactly is? Thank you!!

  14. I don't get why people have such a hard time with roundabouts? It's simple, just yield to those in the roundabout. No stopping once you're in.

I was in a roundabout going 180 degrees on the smaller street, and a car coming from the larger street thought he had the right of way, and cut in front of me. I had to slam on on brakes.

  15. Everyone here is too baked out of their minds to drive a damn roundabout. It's not that hard idiots.

  16. True... remember when the heavily medicated guy took out the fire hydrant. When I walk by the roundabouts I do not dilly dally.

  17. Huntington- That guy was heavily medicated on Alcohol... the only ones that can’t handle the roundabouts, are retards and drunks. The rest of us love them. When is the City going to remove all those life wasting signals that are completely inefficient and make people sit for minutes at a time while the it’s safe to cross through the intersections?

  18. roundabout man,

No one ever sits at a roundabout controlled intersection?

  19. We definitely need more roundabouts instead of all the time wasting lights and stop signs we currently have. I just don't know why the city insists on spending so much money to make the roundabouts so fancy. Simple & functional is just fine and saves on landscaping costs.

  20. 3:43- Not for long....like only a few seconds...verses 3 to 10 minutes at signals. Don't you drive? Have you ever seen people waiting for long at any of the three roundabouts in Encinitas?

What you will see is people waiting forever at the signals at Leucadia and Vuicon/Hwy101 and Leucadia and the lights at I5. The roundabouts are great. The signals suck!

Roundabout save time and improve lives. Signals waste time and waste life.

If you don't enjoy your life, I can understand why you might like a signal.

  21. Anon 8:05 - those two roundabouts don't save time because there shouldn't be any traffic control on Leucadia Blvd. Put stop signs up on Hymettus and Hermes and let traffic flow freely on Leucadia. I could be convinced of a roundabout at Hygeia instead of a Stop if we could convince everyone to keep moving when they get to it.

  22. @Anon 9:36 PM: there were simple stop signs at Hymettus and Hermes for years.

  23. Roundabouts are the answer a legal four way California stop must be the out of state transplants that have trouble with them.
