Soup!

Cold gloomy May days = hot chicken soup from La Especial Norte.

  1. May I commend to you the new Encinitas Souplantation?

Yes, it's a chain, but its offerings are more vegetarian- and vegan-friendly than La Especial Norte.

And with coupons to feed a family of four all-you-can-eat for $19.99, it's a great option for dining out in the Depression.

  2. Based on this, I assume you applaud the new WalMart, W. C.?

  3. Nah, Walmart is too hoity-toity for me.

I'm more of a Big Lots kinda guy.

  4. What is cool is that this soup was one of reasons that La Especial was named as one of the top 100 restaurants in the country by one of the top epicurean magazines reviews. They were #69 in the country. See the award and framed article on the wall by the front door. This is one of the soups that claim to be aphrodisiacs.

  8. I heard that they offer free soup for each political sign removed that is illegally planted on public property along 101. How many will we have by November if we don't do our civic duty now. But we should remove all the signs when we can and not take up the offer of free soup, however gracious that offer is.
We have done it before. We can again. Keep Leucadia politically sign free. Recycle a political sign now.

  9. Though I agree with Chris, that would come with a stiff penalty most of the time if you were caught. If I ran however, it would be on the platform to forbid all campaign signs within the city except for inside windows. But Encinitas doesn't have that much class. Of course I wouldn't get elected because I would have to practice what I preach. Pretty bad system for someone to be swayed by a sign instead of knowing anything about a candidate anyway.

  10. Watch for the profuse political signage/mailings this Fall when Stocks and Muir attempt reelection and election. Their developer friends will shell out big $ to keep these crooks in office. It will be the ultimate test of the electorates' intelligence - will the voters continue to allow themselves to pay the cost of these peoples' feathering of their own nests or do they elect some true representatives? Gaspar got in by acting like a clown in a Wonder Woman outfit - a bad sign of things to come??? Maybe $tock$ can parade around in his true identity - Bozo!

  11. the electorate is dumber than then chickens on dope. They will easily vote in stocks, muir and the other losers.

Sorry but its true. People have to talk to their friends and neighbors and explain why their vote matters.

Easiest message: The reason you bought your house in Encinitas and want to raise your kids here was: 1 The beach 2. decent schools (for California standards) 3. not cookie cutter development and totally boring people. Whelp the current majority are totally clueless about the above and only serve their special interests like the employees union that got a 35% increase in pension for life with a vote from Jerome Stocks.

Pathetic but True. Jerome is a bought man.....in other words-- some one's BITCH.

  12. I agree with Jesus..... Jerome is one paid off BITCH.

  13. Well, whoops.
It appears that our area is more appealing now that some of the ugly political signs have fallen down.
Thanks to all those who did not replant them.

  14. I'll take Jorge's chicken soup over La Especial's but it's very close. Souplantation? I would not eat there even if you paid me to.

  15. Where do you think Jorge got the soup recipies?

As far as "all you can eat" establishments, it's modern day gluttony. And if you don't sample 90% of the fare, you feel cheated. And 90% of diverse food choices even in small quantities can only make you feel crappy not to mention fatter. All you can eat? Bad idea for anyone who can afford it. Besides, I had all I could eat at Souplantation a long time ago. Oddly, I'm not even hungry right now.
