  1. Either get donations or sell the property for a school district profit. Pay back some of those bonds for the worthless ipads bought.

    Baird is a bad joke.

  2. Great meeting Danny S. Lots of good input and ideas toward the common goal of retaining the site as an educational / exhibitional hub for the arts. A thought occurred to me on the way home.

In the 30's and early 40's, Yogananda's temple had a glass wall and the Pacific was his backdrop for the sermons he gave. Imagine if the property at Pacific View had theatre stage with the same option for a full PACIFIC VIEW - or a peek at it from any kind of faux windows on a set. Like the La Paloma's tag line "The theatre is part of the show"; the Pacific View Theatre could be part of the play - and "PVT would be wholly unique, not to mention aptly named attraction.
    I'm just sayin'....

  3. There's a row of houses along the bluff on the alley to the west of Pacific View. An ocean view will be hard to get without exceeding the height limit. My fear is that the old Art Pulse design will be resurrected and pushed by DEMA. This plan included condos along the same alley to take advantage of the ocean view and make it attractive for a developer to kick in money to buy the property. I prefer all the property to remain public.

The spectacular ocean view from the public room at the library can be a liability. On sunny days in the afternoon the glare can be blinding. It's like skiing on open slopes or fishing on the open ocean on a bright day. Sunglasses are needed. Sure, the sun shades can be dropped, but then the view is obscured.

    Something to be considered...

    2. Yes, an ocean view would be impossible without raising the theatre. (Unless you put a video camera on a telescoping pole like my neighbor here in the valley did to sell his ocean view estate). There will be exceptions to height limits when the public prefers something worthy. Also, the theatre can still aim to a view of he ocean where the sun ain't, especially at night. They solved the lawsuit problem at the library though with the new signs. "ENJOY OUR PATIO BUT REFRAIN FROM STARING DIRECTLY INTO THE SUN".

  4. The last thing our City needs is another facility with huge overhead and maintenance costs. Focus on reducing the size of our City Government not increasing it. The School should sell the property to a private party and lets focus on more serious issues.

  5. I hate waste as well and wouldn't want the huge overhead of the city maintaining another negative cash flow. But the Envision The View document breaks that all down into a self sustainable and profitable site. And all without alcohol and open windows. I think.
