New Roundabout Art: The Watchers

  1. Did you ever wonder if the Easter Island locals welcomed those immense heads as local public art? Did the Easter Island government subsidize them? I bet someone complained they were effeminate and put tutus on them.

  3. I vote for Easter Island heads to be situated in the center of all round abouts, as they are the most apropos representation of where Jerome Stocks wants to take us as a community.

  4. Love Them. Who doesn't like Head!?

Seems really appropriate to me given Leucadia's past. It honors the Heads of the 70s. Thats right- its about connecting with our past. A bunch of Heads in Leucadia.

Classic. Leucadia would be known throught the world as that cool low key surf town with those bitchen Easter Island Heads in the funky roundabouts to slow down those high stresses southern Californians.

It doesn't get better than that.

Put it on the ballot and lets move forward with making it happen.

  8. The UT had an article about how Ms. Barth backed off on pursuing illegal noticing of closed sessions. At least that is my take on her effectiveness as a representative of the people.

  9. It SNOWED in Encinitas 40 years ago today!

  10. Re 9:11 AM, I filmed that snow from our backyard on Coop St. But on the bus on the way to school that morning, the Southwest corner of West Glaucus St. and 101 had several large felled cypress trees lying on the ground at the time and with a blanket of snow on them, it looked like a Currier and Ives picture (gone wrong). Prior to 1967, there was one old kaddy corner building there beneath the evergreen giants where an old man had a gem business. It was called Fred Harvey's Rock Shop. Now it's a parking lot for the Pacific Surf Inn. But getting back on subject, I'll sculpt life sized concrete Easter Island heads cheap for the roundups. Could even put tanks inside to collect and reuse rain water.

  11. Maybe we can get some punk from Hemet that has never been on a surf board or at a beach, to sculpt us some heads at a rip off price in a feminine manner?
