  2. You can dial, text message, eat a big mac, shave, have Monica take care of you,do your nails, use map quest, drink a soda, pick your nose, yell at the kids in the back seat and light your smoke. You better not get caught talking on your cell phone. The nanny's are ninny's.

  6. It is a great law. I hope is strictly enforced. I hope all you pinheads get tickets. Stay off your phone and drive

  7. this law is so funny I bet the accident rate goes up.

Now people have to fiddle with the earpiece and the phone to make a call in the car.

My prediction is a law for no calls in the car.

    Big Brother is getting strong.

  8. Make kids and farting illegal in the car. They are major distractions!

Please make it illegal to consume alcohol and eat junk food. I can not do anything on my own without Government intervention.

    Please Government protect us.

  10. My old girlfriend spent half her time driving looking over her shoulder attending to the needs of her daughter in the back seat. The other half of her time was fiddling with the CD player or adjusting her visor. Never had an accident.

  11. I've been nearly killed by people yakking on their cell phones before but, I think everyone is going to handless sets anyway as the phone improve. The ear piece to my cheap crappy phone is horrible but the ear pieces to the new I-Phones are pretty good. I think consumer culture and technology are going to solve this issue on their own.

  14. We were on our way to the Anne Frank museum. As an literary ecotourist I needed to see the tree Anne could see from the small window of thier hiding place.

That day we also visited the Van Gogh museum and numerous small cafes and chocolatiers.

I should note it was during this european holiday we decided to opening a tourist friendly cybercafe in downtown Encinitas was a good idea.

  20. RSPB proves that Leucadia is walkable.

  21. Anon 7:48- yes Leucadia is walkable but many parts are very unsafe, north of Jupiter you are taking your life in your hands trying to negotiate the 101. There is much to be done and a short time to do it, the city will be facing bankruptcy soon. Investigate cities of comparable size and you not find them with the debt nor staff nor outrageous budget that this city has acquired. In fact many cities of comparable or smaller size get much more bang for the buck than Encinitas. Shame.

  22. Agreed. And the dumb asses like Jerome Stocks think its great that Staff gets raises and pension increases as they borrow money against our kids future and say their is no money for Leucadia projects.

What would be good for the Citizens of Encinitas if Council cut the fat complacent staff.

Anyone but Jerome Stocks in November.

  23. As the next City Council assesses staffing needs, the cost of consultants and the outsourcing of work to consultants and contractors must be reconsidered as well.

    ReplyDelete
  24. When Council evaluates the cost of staff, they need to include the cost of salaries, benefits and retirement benefits including life long health and pensions many times at 100% of their highest paying year.

A person making $100,000 salary actually costs the City about $160,000 per year.
