Nice job, whoever put that together. Little over a year ago I was at Keno's watching the Olympics. Shawn White was working his breathtaking magic with his snowboard and of course won the US a gold medal. Then they said he was from Carlsbad and I thought Cool! Pretty close to home. About 2 weeks ago I was at Keno's and Mr. White was in the bar with several friends. Yes, I stalked him till he got outside then shook his hand and thanked him for his excellent display at the Olympics. I also told him I watched him live when that happened at this very bar. He said "Just hope I do it again!" Sure will Shawn.
Funny...the picture of the skate ramp is actually Danny Dalager's house. It is rotted and hasn't been skated since the mid 90's. I've heard him verbally use the ramp in his yard as his connection to skateboarders while continuing to ignore their existence. Kind of like following up a racist statement with "it's ok, I have black friend."
Leucadia Oaks is an insult. It is the original Cardiff Kook. It is a shitty design and the place for cops to harass kids about helmets while they ignore car break ins on 101 and all of the loitering-cig-butt-throwing trolls on Dst and 2nd. And what makes it worse is that all the trolls who get dropped off by their moms in mini vans to sit on the side walk on Dst all day have skateboards with them further perpetuating the stereotype that skateboarders are trash. Meanwhile we are doctors, authors, lawyers, business owners, federal agents, teachers, etc.
Skater trash are a plague against local business and property owners. When asked politely to leave, they curse me or my employees, have spat in my direction and assaulted me while riding past.
I rode a skate board when I was younger and was polite and left when asked to leave.
I love it when they fall and hurt themselves, makes me happy to see them in pain.
Skateboards are for all those kids that aren't athletic enough to play any other sport. They're not necessarily losers, but I always feel sorry for them.

Just looked at the last picture on the blog. The trees and Long board grotto are gone. Our town needs an enima?
ReplyDeleteWho the hell is responsible for turning our town into a treeless ugly downtown?
All I can say is none of the current council members give a crap.
Lcucadia definitely is the Cinderella story.
