The tree tunnel was alway best on the northbound lanes. I believe that shot is looking north and what's now the Sub Palace is partly visible on the left. Was taken just before guard rails were installed as they used to paint the bottom 4 feet of the trees white to decrease 60 mph crashes that were pretty common. It's also another angle revealing how the Eucalypts and Monterey Cyprus were planted evenly one after the other in the median. Why do you suppose someone wanted that kind of order?
How did the past trees get watered?
ReplyDeleteI know the City's current practice is to not water or greatly under-water the existing trees.
No water- No trees
Many of the trees the City plants die from lack of water.
