  1. Encinitas Union School District passed an agenda item to survey for a bond measure. Do we really need another tax? The school District is at the top of the state. Don't we give them our property tax- isn't that enough? Children first-Parents last.

Common ground my ass. Pension liability for our city, state, and feds are the thing that is bankrupting us. The government slackers should not have a retirement that gives them full pay at 55. That’s insane.
I agree with an earlier poster. The only way forward is through the courts when the agencies fail. There has to be some form of revolution. Paper or more, these obligations have to change for the sake of our Children!

Dan Dalager voted for his own pension increase in 2004 by 40% plus every City Employee!

Criminal! Against their own constituents. Make Danny answer for his own self serving move!

My kids shouldn’t suffer for Dalagers easy living.

Stop this madness. Vote for anyone besides the self serving Dan Dalager!

Ever wonder why every fire station is rebuilt for $5 million each while every park and street landscape suffers?

the reason is people like Dan Dalager on the union tit.

    Pathetic!

My kids shouldn't suffer for Dan Dalager's selfish interest!

  5. The recent pension increase was Ordinance 2005-08, available here.

Dalager, Guerin, Houlihan, and Stocks all voted for the huge pension increase. Bond was the only No vote.

    NC Times article here.

  6. Oops-- wrong link on the first one. Ordinance 2005-08 here.

  7. P.S. Encinitas, like most California municipalities, uses CalPERS to manage its pension funds.

CalPERS is severely underfunded after a string of extremely stupid investments. Encinitas taxpayers are legally on the hook to bail out the pension fund from CalPERS' bad investments.

    More here and here.

  8. what would it take to switch to some sort of defined contribution plan?

  9. Anon,

It would take politicians who aren't beholden to the unions.

We can start by voting out Dalager and Houlihan, then Stocks when he's up for re-election.

  11. Anyone voting for Dalager is a big part of why America is tanking.

Dalager is Bad for Encinitas! Dalager is bad for America!

If your voting for a democrat or republican, admit it, you are part of the problem.

  13. 8:26,

I would think most Encinitans, certainly most Leucadia Blog readers, are sophisticated enough not to vote on a pure party-line basis.

Bilbray voted against Bush's bank bailout and against Obama's Obamacare. He talks a good game on deficits and debt. On what issues do you have a problem with him? Or is it just that he's a Republican?

  14. W.C. please speak the truthApril 26, 2010 6:59 AM

I'm Not 8:26, but I have some problems with Bibray.

    1. A pure carpetbagger that was a lifeguard pension collecting tick that made a carreer as a politician. He has don't nothing successful in his private life.

    2. He supports the insane invasive and costly wars in Iran and Iraq, which kill Americans and spent trillions in debt all for corporate profit and making America weaker in the end.

    3. He supports border patrol, which is a huge workfare program and his little to no value to the security of America today.

    4. He has proposed no legislation to fix Americas Debt problem including spending on other nations, cutting social security, medicare and welfore, government pensions.

    5. He has don't nothing to show h is worth any good. Let him stop by proposing legislation to drop the pensions for all congressman and senators including free healthcare.

Once he take up these issues, he will earn my respect. Until then he is a pure carpetbagger that is a puke career politician. He is more of the same Republicrat puke that has ruined this country. You seem like a pretty smart guy W.C. My question to you W.C, Why would you support Bilbray?

  15. Bilbray alternative was Busby, She has done nothing except complain about Sheriff's Deputies doing their job. If you want higher taxes, vote Busby. If you like Busby you will probably also want to vote for Gore for Sheriff. He sides with Busby on her complaints.

  16. This is not pertaining to the content of 6:59's writings, but to his english skills. What a retard.

  17. Or is it just that he's a Republican?

    Thats a start.

  18. 8:48- Its a blog. I could care less if someone spell checks a post.

On another note, you must have nothing worthwhile to add as far as content, so you might want to consider who is really acting retarded.

Let me guess, your another worthless republican or democrat?
