This year the Encinitas garden tour explored southwest Leucadia.
The tour was a wonderful way for anyone interested in gardening to spend the afternoon. Because it was in Leucadia, you could be sure the tour would have a few artistic twists. One of the first places we visited was the Laudenslager's garden. We've covered his work in the past.
I heard from a number of folks that many of the gardens were surprisingly large. Leucadia has areas of high density not far from areas that currently have large lots, allowing the gardens to be designed to do things that can be accomplished only with large spaces.
Photos of home number 2:
There was such a large diversity of gardens. I know a lot of folks who had put their home on the tour. They really enjoy working and living in their gardens and it was evident from seeing how they had crafted their gardens.
Leucadia home number three had all sorts of beautiful living, working, and playing spaces.
Part II later.
It was a great tour. I was amazed that there were so many gardens with inspired and varied designs within such a small area. Especially when you consider that there were probably that many again who didn't open their yards to the public.
ReplyDeleteHow did they select the houses on the tour?
Had a great time walking around visiting ALL of the gardens, including Ecke Central School.
ReplyDeleteThanks to all the organizers and volunteers and a special thank you to the people who shared their wonderful gardens with the community.
There is no place like home!
