The cheerleading for Moonlight Lofts had a lot of live/work pom-pom waving. After the project was built I couldn't find evidence that live/working was happening or that people living there were taking the bus or train.I'm not saying the project was good or bad. I do conclude that the cheerleading was, just that.
What seems totally ignored is the special nature of the 101 corridor. The ability for 101 business owners to live and walk to work has always been an option.
I took these photos when doing the Bamboo 2 U post.
The top one is of the new buildings next to Caldwell's Antiques. The one on the bottom is where I took the top photo. There is tons of high density apartments, mobile homes, condos, and single family residences in walking distance of the 101.Several prominent Leucadia blog participants live and work along the 101 corridor.
On the other hand, there are others who work on the 101 and rather live deeper in the pure residential neighborhoods of Leucadia.Leucadians already have the choice of living within walking distance of their Lecuadia offices.

ReplyDeleteBig deal. I surf every day at D street and everywhere else along north coast when its good everyday. Why work when you can let the government pay you to eat, shelter, and free healthcare. Life is great.

I was able to open EMBELLISHMENTS 8 years ago, and love living and working in Leucadia. Many of the items I sell are from local artisans, and craftsman. Thanks for supporting your local businesses.

ReplyDeleteNot as nice as the previous building and open earth. They are not bad but not as nice as previous, but nothing much is really better than less density.

ReplyDeleteAs for open space, there was open space on your land until it was developed, perhaps you could do us a favor, tear it down and live in a hole in the ground. You'd wake up a bit more dirty in the morning, but the rest of us would have more open space....
Your wrong. MY house was built on an ancient native american village site. I am keeping the tribe going. You seem like a cranky dude. You must live near Hwy101 and are not gettting enough sleep due to all the noise.
