Gas is still over $3 a gallon

But nobody seems to complain about it anymore. I guess we are all comfortable with it now.

  1. Yep, much like what the TSA desires, everyone to get nice and comfortable with their patented genital massages.

  2. What do you do - boycott?

  3. Those boycotts are a joke, and they know it. They can spill billions of gallons of oil in the gulf and it's no skin off their butt. Wanna save half of your gas bill? Walk more and drive less.

  4. I will when the new Leucadia Streetscape makes it safer to walk and bike in Leucadia.

  5. If you really think the oil companies are ripping us off then go out and buy some Exxon stock. If you can't beat them, join them!

If you hate buying gas you can fill up a Prius for under $30 and it will go over 400 miles. That is the same effective price at the pump as 10 years ago when gas was $1.50 and you owned a chevy blazer (or whatever car that got 20ish mpg)

Prius is ugly but it holds two 10' surfboards with the hatch shut (and room for a passenger). Not many cars can do that.

  6. Just wait till oil is completely off the dollar and our currency crashes.

You'll be happy with $10 gallon.

  7. It's not the oil companies. It's the Federal Reserve.

The Dirty Fed is debasing the dollar to bail out Wall Street. Skyrocketing food and energy prices for the little people are considered an acceptable side effect.

  8. wc is right. HH, that has already been calculated into the price of those stocks. You missed the boat if you're buying that stuff today.

  9. With all due respect to your investment acumen, for I certainly have none, if exxon trades at a 12 times it's earnings and the rest of the stock market trades at 20+, then isn't lower oil prices priced in, not the existing prices?

If the high prices were "priced in" by the market then exxon would trade at the same multiple as the rest of the market...or at least pretty close.

  10. Get with it. The price of oil and eventual byproducts (gas) are going much higher in terms of dollars. Think about getting out of dollars and in to hard assets or commodity based investments that will rise with the price of oil / gas.

Free advice, I charge for it during the day.

  11. Those one day boycotts are completely stupid.

You can make an impact by Never buying gas from the high priced dealers and only buying from those who charge lower from the rest.

  12. I read that every 1 cent increase in gasoline decreases U.S. consumer disposable income by about $600 million per year.

If we repatriated those dollars with green energy sources made in the USA, think how strong our economy would be!
