Tax all pensions over $60,000 a year- 80% and collect the money to pay for the existing pension liability. It will greatly help.
No public employee deserves or needs a tax exempt pension over $60k and this would spend much less on lawyers fees with the option of Bankrupting every City and the State of CA.
Your a hypocrite who should resign from office! Every retired state employee can claim the same thing -I believe the state is worst off than "any" city in the state.
There's nothing hypocritical about tentatively proposing very modest pension reform while receiving a pension.
Methinks you are a greedy city worker who wants to be set for life at 55, unlike the regular folk who pay your salary and will have to work well into their 60's if not 70's.
Furthermore, Barth's pension is a tiny fraction of the huge, obscene pensions that the Encinitas council majority gave away. If Encinitas employees got pensions like Barth has, we wouldn't be on the road to bankruptcy.
I'm disappointed that this year's Happy Holidays picture isn't the one of Andreen and Tucker that you put up last year. That was HILARIOUS!
ReplyDeleteAll that aside, Happy Holidays to all and god bless our wonderful town that Is Encinitas.

Did anyone read the NCT. Teresa Barth is a state pensioner, what a hypocrite. I wish I knew that before I voted for her.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 8:36 - Thanks for the heads up on that one, I just read the article.
ReplyDeleteIn response to the NCT article:

8:36 and Derrick,
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing hypocritical about calling for pension reform while being in the pension system.
Is it hypocritical to call for Social Security reform while receiving Social Security? To call for tax reform while being a taxpayer?
Besides which, Barth's pension from the Del Mar Fairgrounds is quaint and trivial compared to the huge pensions being given away in Encinitas.
I plan to have a full post up on this tonight.
Jeesh, you people are really reaching.

Barth's pension will be sweetened up by her tenure as a councilperson.
ReplyDeleteINSIDERS NEWS ALERT!!!
ReplyDeleteTeresa Barth has a ghost writing by the name of WC Varones.
Go Teresa or should I say GO WC Varones!
FOR THE RECORD
ReplyDeleteMy pension will not be increased by my tenure on the city council.
I chose not to participate in the city's pension.
The fact that I receive a pension has never been a secret.
I mentioned it at most all the forums and posted it on my website.

WC has it right again.
ReplyDeleteI smell Andreen butt ream in the house.
I wonder if Maggie is growing her pension by being on Council?
See had a pretty high salary as a lead librarian. What is she pulling down?
What about the others?
Wow - Barth responds - now there is an alert council person! Now if we could only find more like minded citizens that serve the greater good!
ReplyDeleteWe need council people that listen to the community, not a community blog that gets the same old 8 or 10 people.
ReplyDeleteCase in point; whenever the blog eliminates the anonymous options - the blog basically closes down.
Thumbs up to the anon commenter at December 27, 2010 1:41 PM
ReplyDeleteNorth Count Times website is ending anonymous comments in 2011. This blog should do the same. We don't need the repetitive views of cowards
ReplyDeleteI agree - this blog is getting ridiculous.
