Council Member Elect Gaspar will be seated tonight and cast her first vote. Her top campaign promise on the issues was:
I will bring positive energy, a spirit of cooperation, and unity to the Encinitas City Council. Our council has too often been distracted by petty personal feuds and hyper-partisanship. I pledge to focus my efforts on the needs of our city instead of disparaging the personal character of those whom I may not agree with on specific issues. My track record with numerous boards and foundations in Encinitas demonstrates that I get the job done by helping my colleagues arrive at a consensus. When council members do not work together, they actually decrease the chances of a successful outcome. Finally, council members need to approach each issue on an individual basis with an open mind. Too often, council members have opposed each other based on a history of personal conflicts instead of considering the merit of their colleagues' ideas.
Alright. Encinitas future looks bright. Lets she if she walks the talk or is just another lying politician like Jerome Stocks willing to sell out Encinitas for his own personal gain.
ReplyDeleteI'm willing to give both Barth and Gaspar the benefit of the doubt. We should support anything that is positive for the city.
ReplyDeleteGridlock is good sometimes. Sometimes the best action is no action. I hate it when political leaders feel like they have to hurry up and spend our money.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the farewell party for Danny Bob??
ReplyDeleteSounds good . . .
ReplyDeleteIs Dalager getting the keys to the city as as a commendation for his 8 years of being a bump on the log? If so, somebody disable the ignition - quick!!
ReplyDeleteWe have no idea what type of council member Gaspar will be or how well Barth will work with her. Everyone take a deep breath and relax and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteA new spirit of cooperation is the same old horse manure that is pushed every election. The 3 council majority had the spirit of cooperation for the last 8 years with the attitude of "it's our way or the highway" to the citizens of Encinitas. Let's get some heavy dissent in the council.
ReplyDeleteOff with their heads!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have 5 ELECTED council people. Like them or not they represent our community.
ReplyDeleteThe selected Mayor should be the one that represents the majority - whomever that is...or better yet, we should vote for our Mayor, isn't it time?
It's that simple!
It's this simple...off with their heads!!!
ReplyDelete1131,
ReplyDeleteRight on, and I voted for Gaspar because she said she was going to unite the council.
Rumor has it that Teresa will be passed over for Mayor or Dep. Mayor despite the fact it is her turn. We will see if this is true when Gaspar votes tonight. I am getting pretty tired of Jerome Stocks and his vendetta against Teresa Barth. It is pretty embarrassing for the City of Encinitas to be represented by this political bully. I would be much more hopeful for the future if Gaspar would be the independent she claims to be.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the fact that she has not even attended a single council meeting since she was elected says a lot about her attitude. I hope she does not just go along with whatever Jerome wants.

ReplyDeleteWhat's up with this "it her turn" bullsh**t! It not about playing a game.
Your "uniter ploy" is a poor excuse to get your own way.
Be honest, if it was "Jerome's turn" would you support him - I think not.
Do be such a hipocrite!
Excuse me, but who has ever voted against or spoken against Jerome getting his turn? Has it not been Jerome who has participated in the tradition of taking turns?
ReplyDeleteThe new council is not important now, old councils have spent us to bankruptcy.
ReplyDeleteThe city is broke, if you can't see that then you are more foolish than the council.
Should be interesting to see just what $47,000.00 buys for Encinitas, a bargain or a lemon.
ReplyDeleteHow much you want to bet that Jerome will suggest that he be the deputy mayor this year and lining himself up for Mayor in 2012 when he will face his next campaign. Any takers. I bet you a pension increase for staff.
ReplyDeleteSo much for the new spirit. Gaspar is Jerome's pinochio puppet.
ReplyDeleteI knew she was pure BS. $47k Bought Ho- nothing more. For the unions and the Ecke Development Team.
Poor kids.
Lets see how big her nose grows and how many nose jobs Gaspar can get in 4 years.
I bet 2.
Term limits are needed to stop this tyranny. The Mayor has no real power anyway. James Bond has no balls, he should have said no thanks and made a motion for Terrisa to be Mayor. Stocks is a clown. We are not stupid and you will be voted out in 2012 Jerome.
ReplyDeleteActually the mayor has a lot of power. The most important is that the mayor can put anything on the agenda with out any votes at all. Other council members have to have three votes. What do you thing the chance are that we get the three vote rule changed back to two??? Done snowball chance in hell ring a bell.
ReplyDeleteTwo years is too long to wait for Jerome Stocks to be gone. We need him out now. We need to do a little house cleaning at city hall too and that will never happen as long as Jerome Stocks holds the reins of power.
ReplyDeleteSorry Jerome you can protest all you want but the mayor election was decided before hand. We simply don't believe you. We are not all brainless sheep. It is shameless that you supported what Dan Dalager was doing and obvious that you knew about it. Beware we are going to be watching very closely.
ReplyDeleteMalibu Barbie is a bimbo. Did you hear her tonight? She has nothing to offer but the obvious... you all can fill in the rest. Stepford wife for sure!
ReplyDeleteKristen Gaspar better get her act together fast or it is going to be a very long 4 years for her. Maggie didn't talk to Teresa or Jim any more or less than Jerome Stocks talked to Kristen and James Bond. James Bond knew the day before that Teresa was going to be passed over...how did he know this. Jerome talked to Kristin and then talked to Jim. Or vice versa. Jerome tried to say he did not violate the Brown Act but you know Jerome we don't believe young more. We also don't believe that Kristin came to the conclusion to vote against Teresa all by herself....she even had a prepared statement. This should have been a routine meeting...she know that it was going to be controversial and thus came prepared.....that sounds like prior knowledge to me.
ReplyDeleteIf you cannot get to the council meetings you can see video the next day. It is really important to be aware of what is going on so you can make judgements for your self. Maybe if some of the posters here did that, they would not make such uneducated comments. You don't need to respond you know who you are.
ReplyDeleteGaspar is a disaster- the replacement stooge for Dalager. Send Dalager to jail to give a message to the others - there is responsibility in government.
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference between what is unethical and what is criminal. I don't think he will go to jail just because he got a bro deal and bragged about it. The loan may have some criminal repercussions. Let's see what plays out. This is America and you are innocent until proven guilty. No charges have been filed and he has already paid for his lapse in judgement by being voted out of office.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS RETARDED!
ReplyDeleteWHAT HAPPENED TO FINISHING THE HALF ASS JOB ON LEUCADIA BLVD - REMEMBER BETWEEN HERMES AND HYMETTUS? WTF????????????
I love the fact that Gaspar claims to be acting out of the "greater good," for Encinitas. While on campaign, she told us repeatedly about her prestigious degree in broadcast journalism. The trouble is, nobody would hire her! So then she started working in her husband's practice as "CFO."
ReplyDeleteIs the "CFO" considered accountable when there are multiple lawsuits against a firm during the time she is working there? Just asking!
Now she has accepted the charity of out-of-town developers, who donated gifts, so that Ms. Gaspar could apply her remarkable professional skills to a broader audience. With these out-of-town donations that total in the 6 figures, she will make decisions for the good of Encinitas and its people. She feels better qualified make decisions for residents by listening to the generous, out of town charitable contributors than she does listening to Encinitas residents! This is wise because the majority of Encinitas residents, who actually have more and better education that she does, and who can actually get hired in the fields that they studied for in college, are obstructionists!!
