According to this North County Times article:
REGION: Report on homelessness shows large North County population there are 530 homeless people in Encinitas.
"I was somewhat surprised at the number for North County," said Laurine Pause, director of the Community Resource Center in Encinitas. "I think the increase in numbers really were from migrant workers."
Of the 530 homeless people counted on the streets in Encinitas, Pause said she suspects about 80 percent were migrant workers.*
Of those, only 10 percent usually seek assistance from the Community Resource Center, she said.
Pause said she does not think there has been a change in Encinitas' population of chronically homeless, which includes people with mental illness or addiction.
But Leslie and Pause said there are more new homeless people who may be living in their cars after being displaced because of the poor economy.
Those people may be missed in homeless counts, conducted between 4 and 8 a.m., because volunteers usually go to parks or other areas the homeless are known to be found rather than side streets where a family may be finding shelter in their car, Pause said.

Who are the 400 odd migrant workers living in the bushes of Encinitas working for?
Are they living and working in Encinitas, or are they mostly commuting to work in Rancho Santa Fe, our wealthy neighbor?
Do you employ migrant workers?
If yes, do you pay them cash under the table?
What do you pay them per hour?
Regarding the homeless mentally ill in Encinitas, are there any local resources to help them get well?
Is helping the homeless a job for the government or a responsibility we must all take as a community of private citizens?
Does the city of Encinitas have policy regarding homeless people?
Like pigeons or squirrels, DONT FEED THE BUMS!

The illegals are here because they get jobs maintaining Rancho Sante Fe Properties for $10 per hour tax free.
The white bums are here because of poor choices, mental illness, or they learned that they can make a pretty good living from begging from bleeding heart SUV drivers on their way to get a $5 latte.
USA has the highest % of Bums of all the world's countries, because we breed complacency and laziness through our huge government welfare system including agency workfare (borderpatrol, homeland security, Caltrans, Etc…).
Shrink the bum pollution, cut welfare, workfare, and don't feed the bums.
Or you can do what Del Mar does and ships them north to Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Oceanside.
Get over your fear and stop and listen to their stories. One I know is a Vietnam vet. He's a good man who has a metal plate in his head from injuries sustained. He lives on his VA pension and sleeps in the center divide. He gave his all for his country and the least I can do is smile, listen, and occasionally help him out at the end of the month.

In the spirit of Christmas, we cannot leave out these unfortunate members of society. After all, if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t have that much to do! Hobos from around the county gathered for this year’s Ho-Ho Hobo Christmas spectacular. They crawled from under the bushes, cast aside their favorite rocks and staggered around as merrily as they could. They bobbed for apples, floating in vodka of course; pan handled to see who could get the most change in an hour and played their own version of last man standing, which has nothing to do with fighting, simply drinking. That game took quite some time! There was even a parade, if you can call it that. A freight train lumbered by with several hobos on board, waving to the crowd. Eventually the festivities came to a close with the annual crowning of Hobo Claus. The picture of the 2008 Hobo Claus is included as usual, but with a word of advice: if you see this guy in a red suit at the mall, don’t let your kids go near him!"
We don't stand a chance when our police officers think it is a joke to have homeless people sleeeping in the bushes, defecating and urinating in the bishes, etc.

ReplyDeleteMigrant workers are not homeless. They have homes far away in Mexico. Why doesn't Rancho Santa Fe just admit they are addicted to cheap migrant labor and build them barracks next to the horse farms? It's stupid to have a 400 man workforce living in our canyons and working at mansions. Face up to reality.
ReplyDeleteAddiction puts a lot of people on the street. They have had long roads to where they are today and many of them made wrong turns and unfortunately addiction makes it really hard to turn that "right" hand turn signal.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was carless, I took the bus to do my laundry one day at Jolly Clean Giant. Crossing the street from the bus stop at Denny's, there were the ususal throngs of migrant workers awaiting work. By chance, when I got to the corner, Mike Andreen was making a turn leaving the Chamber office. (I can't count the number of times he's helped me out giving me a ride after meetings etc.) But this time when he signaled for me to hop in, about 10 workers in a frenzy beat me to his door . I cracked up. Guess I was squeezed out of the way because of my height, baseball cap and Guatamalan wardrobe. Didn't need one that day, but thanks for all the other rides, Mike!

Their sewage going into Cottonwood Creek is acceptable because they are migrants.
