Jerome Stocks: Roses & Raspberries

Encinitas city council member Jerome Stocks was a giving a "raspberry" by the North County Times editorial staff this week for "enthusiastically" supporting a $50,000 pay raise to San Diego Association of Governments' Executive Director Gary Gallegos.

Speaking of Jerome, I am giving him a Leucadia Blog rose for being the swing vote on the downtown Leucadia streetscape project. Jerome takes a lot of heat from Leucadians, especially on this blog (and especially in the anonymous comments section). I know a lot of people have concerns about the streetscape plan 4A which passed 3-1, but so does Jerome. It would have been easy for Jerome to vote no on the streetscape and kill it once and for all, but I think he understood that investing in our infrastructure every 50 years is good for the community in the long run. Some common ground is that is not 100% sold on all those wacky roundabouts either. The Keep Leucadia Funky crowd may actual find an opportunity to work with him as the streetscape process continues.

So Jerome I am giving you a rose and totally not in a gay way because we are both dudes and yeah, it's kinda weird for a dude to give another dude a rose but I am doing it so just be cool about it and don't tell anyone.

  1. Jerome only voted for it because Dannybody couldn't vote....didn't you see Jerome trying to get the City to ignore the conflict of interest laws! Dannyboy desperately wanted this to pass. Jerome had to take a hit this time for his buddy, he really isn't into putting money into Leucadia. Nothing Jerome does should be taken at face value.

  2. Jerome- you manned up and voted for a better Leucadia and Encinitas!! Good for us. Now man up and GET THAT DAMN TRAIN BELOW GRADE!!!! Do it!! Make that your legacy!! No, no one will know you are responsible for lowering the train. Nor will there be a plaque with your name on it either. It is something that you must do for the betterment of the community!! No one remembers the names of the Solana Beach council people that lowered the train, but thousands of people are thankful everyday. SO DO IT!!!! JUST DO IT!!!

  3. Didn't Jerome ask Sabine if they could break the law so Danny could vote on this one? How does that deserve a rose? J.P. what Kool Aid are you drinking?

  4. "Jerome Stocks is also one of the bloggers on the anti-big government, save our tax dollars, teabagger"

But where ever Jerome goes he raises taxes, grows government, and burns money.

  5. Not to mention, the other rose to Jerome for extinguishing Redevelopment.

  6. "Some common ground is that is not 100% sold on all those wacky roundabouts either."

What is this supposed to mean?

    Please elaborate.

I find roundabouts easy to navigate and much better than signals.

I find signals wacky for being installed in the first place because they perform so poorly have such a terrible safety track record.

Do you think roundabouts are wacky?

  7. I'm not sure we need to give somebody a cookie (or a rose) when doing the right thing is more a bug than a feature.

  8. Fred,

Jerome and Danny's backers were pushing for redevelopment. The backlash scared Jerome because he wanted to run for state office.

Jerome was swayed by Redevelopment in the beginning, but when it was researched, and the public overwhelmingly was against it, he voted the right way. That was good. No matter how you slice it. Besides, Jerome did not run for State office.

  10. Word on the street is Jerome wants to run for Assembly in 2010. Part of me thinks this is great if he gets elected and out of Encinitas. The other part feels sorry for all Californians if he gets elected.

  11. Thank you Jerome for voting for Alternative 4(A). That was hard for you to do, but you did the right thing.

And, for all you anti-roundabout people, do you really want more stop signs, or stop lights? Key word there is STOP! Get with the flow!!!

  13. Jerome consistently voted and still today votes for the criminal pension increases in 2005 of 40%. Like all council people at the time, his city pension went up 40% after his vote. Completely self serving!

Plus the public employees union own Jerome and he is their biggest supporter.

Most Republicans are RINOs. Republican In Name Only. Jerome is a Flaming RINO!

Never vote for an incumbent, especially a RINO!
