Leucadia Resourcefulness

Million dollar ocean view house. Big lot with great landscaping. New car.

A partial tree stump just high enough for a hoop.

In other news, Gaspar says she snubbed Barth in order to restore civility: Barth didn't denounce attacks on Gaspar's family and staged pep-rallies filled with accusations.

  1. For anyone who has sat through a city council meeting they have witnessed the condescending attitude Jerome Stocks has displayed for anyone who does not share his opinion. At the end of one council meeting I witnessed Jerome Stocks look over to Dan Dalager and say "How do you want to handle this?" completely ignoring Teresa Barth and Maggie Houlihan sitting between them, as if they were invisible. Mr. Bond was not in attendence. Ms. Barth's harassment complaint was not meant for public grandstanding and the city attorney should have been able to tell her council members are not actually city employees without hiring outside council for $20,000. The responsibility of that expense lies with the city attorney.

Ms. Gaspar's claim that Ms. Barth has a history of not getting along with fellow council members shows that she does not know the history. There was no logical reason to bypass Ms. Barth for mayor. Mr. Bonds' rationalization that he didn't vote for Barth because he didn't like the way Dalager was treated by the public made no sense. This is a snub to the voters as well as an affront to democracy. Ms. Gaspar has made it clear she is disregarding her campaign promise of being a "uniter."

  3. Gaspar did not denounce her supporters calling Barth "whore" multiple times at public forums.
Barth may be abrasive and blunt, but she is truthful and transparent. Gaspar seems to make up facts as she goes along.

  4. ANYONE - Even disgraced Mayor Cameron who was thrown out of office by the voters and still says that by-passing Barth was wrong - please explain why she did the same thing when she had the majority.

Its time to elect a Mayor, unless you don't think you really represent the majority.

  5. I am not sure what the photos have to do with thread. This thread seems to be about Gaspars complete denial of reality. Does she own the house too?

  6. Gaspar is a bought women just like Jerome Stocks. Expect her votes to always benefit the Eckes and all developers, the City Employees, and the sports leagues which will increase there net revenue at the expense of the public.

All the special interests are not in the best interest of the public.

Time and time again the public gets screwed and foots the bill for the special interests that get their candidates elected like Jerome Stocks and the newest paid stooge Gaspar.

  8. By their own words the Barth supporters prove to all they are rude biased simpletons that will not stop drinking the Kool-Aid. I've never seen or heard Ms. Gaspar but if the Barth lovers hate her this much she can't be all that bad.

If you have never seen or heard Kristin Gaspar how can you possibly consider that you are qualified to support her actions? If you had ever come to a City Council meeting that would have been one more than Kristin Gaspar. I am not a particular supporter of Teresa Barth however in the two weeks or so that Kristin Gaspar has been on the council she has done more to create division than Barth as in her whole 4 years. The topper is this inane article. It is going to be a long four years and I fear this is just the tip of the iceberg.

  10. What in the world did anyone do to Gaspar's family? She seems to make up things as she goes.

  11. The kool aid?
You mean the transparent government,no secret meetings kool aid? Or do you mean the Stocks,Bond,Gaspar we don't work for you,we work for Ecke/Meyer/Andreen kool aid. This city is a micro version of stupid, uninformed america.Easily bought and paid for morons who get their information from mailers and adds.We are doomed by our own mass stupidity.
Barth is the best thing that ever happened to this council. The only thing thinner than Gaspars resume is her skin.

  12. I attended the Leucadia forum.

When someone asked Gaspar how she could find time to be on council with three young children Barth defended Gaspar and said "If it was a man running you wouldn't ask that question. "

Barth said the question should be the same to all candidates. "Do you have the time to do the job properly?"

Is that what Kristin calls "attacking" her family.

Yeah and WHAT does this have to do with Gaspar?

  14. I’m seriously ready for a different topic.

How many times can Stocks and Gaspar bring up the mistreatment of the modest and hapless Mr. Stocks, at the overpowering hand of the cruel and dominant Ms. Barth?

It's already 2011, and this brutal attack on Jerome Stocks happened in 2009. While I am not saying that we should not be gentle around his sweet, tender soul-- it's a new year!

Why don't Stocks and Gaspar focus on something more credible, like the Saadam Hussein’s Weapons of Mass Destruction?

  15. I have been to more city council meetings than I care to count in the past 20 years. The majority of the bloggers have it correct, Ms. Gaspar makes up "facts" as she goes along and has already caused more discord in a few shorts weeks than the last 4 years of strife the "good ol' boys" were responsible for.

Our city and citizens deserve more and it's a shame.

The only good thing that came out of the last election is that Dalager is gone (and I was one of the many that enthusiastically voted him in). I guess that showed that you can't trust a lifetime local who you thought had our residents and the city's best interest at heart. But we sure as hell knew Ms. Gaspar didn't have the city's interest at heart before she was even elected, her claims of wanting to be a "uniter" were thinner than her skin!

  16. Barth doesn't represent the majority of citizens in Encinitas.

She got kill at the polls by Gaspar!

    Gaspar for Mayor!!!

  17. The special interest money and big supported Gaspar.

    The people suport Barth.

Barth is good. Gasper is special interest.

In the end the citizens take ownership of this town and Stocks and Gaspar will be thrown in Prison. As they should. At least Stocks. But give Gaspar enough time and she to will deserve to be thrown in prison.

As the queen of hearts said. Off with their heads.

  18. Gasbag won on the write in vote which the RINOS were so proud to point out. More Republicans vote by mail so the majority of money and glad handing was spent then. I heard her husband is the actual political wannabe and is using her for name recognition down the road.

  21. Reading Kristin Gaspar's letter to the NCTimes I was struck by the irony that she claims to be a proponent of civility yet after only a few weeks in office claims to know that Teresa Barth "has on an ongoing basis failed to demonstrate her ability to work cooperatively with her fellow council members." And how exactly does Kristin know this, especially since she has admitted to not having attended many council meetings?

Jerome Stocks behavior has been witnessed by people attending council meetings and Teresa's harassment claim was found to have no merit because she's not a city employee, that doesn't mean she wasn't mistreated she just had no legal recourse. She's now being chastised for standing up for herself and was seeking answers from the city attorney and instead of looking up the answer himself he decided to farm it out, hence the large expense.

Teresa Barth actually defended Gaspar at a town forum when Gaspar was asked if she had the time to devote to a council member's job with three young children at home. Barth quickly jumped to her defense and said it was an unfair question that would never be asked of a man. That is a demonstration of Teresa Barth's character and sense of fair play. Barth voted for Gaspar's recent appointments despite losing the appointments herself.

Kristin Gaspar has so far demonstrated a willingness to make claims and accusations against her fellow council members that she cannot prove. There was no rational reason to not allow Barth her turn as mayor, the excuses given by Bond were ridiculous. Gaspar's letter to the paper borders on slander and bodes for her future "service."

  22. I suspect that NCT letter was ghost written for the air head Gaspar. She is unqualified for the position for which she was elected and takes her marching orders from $tock$ - the informed citizenry recognized this from day one. Unfortunately, the informed account for a very small percentage. I just hope that the public scrutiney calls her out for every inconsistency and misstated "fact" that will be forthcoming. The special interests continue to prevail in the small town politics of Encinitas.

  24. In the interview with the NCTimes, Jim Bond stated the reason that he put Gaspar on and took Teresa off SANDAG was because he thought it would be better to have 2 people of like minds on the Board , namely Stocks and Gaspar. He also said that he had wished he could talk to the other members of the Council, but it was against the Brown Act. What I wonder is "how does he know Gaspar and Stocks are of like minds for SANDAG unless there had been a Brown Act violation."? Did he know Kristin before? Not likely, since most of us who are active in the community have never seen Gaspar participate on any Commission or any other Community service, including going to meetings. She stood up once and talked about the train noise. Anyone paying attention knows this election was bought. This really isn't rocket science. I am just wondering what SHE is getting in the deal. Perhaps it does have to do with her husband, since he is on the licensing Board of Physical Therapy? I say boycott Gaspar Physical Therapy if you can. There are other places that do P.T.

  28. Let me get this straight. Jerome doesn't like Teresa, and apparently, she doesn't like him, either. So why does Jerome need a someone like Gaspar to fight his battles for him? Isn't he man enough to do it on his own? And why is Gaspar letting herself be used like this? Battered Wife Syndrome? All I know is, if Gaspar's gonna come out swingin', she'd better get used to people hitting back.

  29. Gaspar does what she is told. There is probably some ego about being in a position of some authority, but she will never independently be capable of utilizing it in an impartial manner. Agendas - it is always about agendas. And Agendas usually mean $$$$$$$$$$$$.

  36. We have 2 council members with character and integrity that are truly there to serve the greater good of our community and do not take their orders from the Ecke machine or the high powered Scripps executives. Too many voters in our town are swayed by packaging instead of substance and accountability. This is why we have a majority on the council who treat any with opposing views with disdain. My deepest gratitude goes to Maggie and Teresa for staying true to their constituents and not accepting outside developer money and being stellar stewards of our environment and our community character. If the majority of voters just heard Gaspar speak on any of the core issues affecting Encinitas like the rewriting of our general plan, the expansion of I-5, the proposed 38 90 foot lights at the park we don't have the money to build, she would have been seen for what she is, a shill for the Ecke, Andreen machine. Kristin Gaspar has managed to endear herself to those who care about local issues as much as Sarah Palin who draws little support or confidence from her home state of Alaska. Keep those raspberries coming. She is off to an unprecedented early unveiling of her true agenda.
