In Del Mar putting midgets on the backs of large land mammals and seeing which one runs faster for money is so popular that the traffic backs all the way up to Leucadia.
I think the traffic backups are here to stay. Traffic gridlock along HW101 will just keep getting worst. The traffic is from the spike in development in the region like Carlsbad, San Marcos, Oceanside and Vista over the last 10 years. The internal growth from Encinitas has been minor.
For those you that were here over 10 years ago. You are lucky. You experienced the area in its prime. Now its traffic and concrete jungle.
I hope the streetscape at least makes Leucadia HW101 more beautiful and safer for pedestrians.
The consultant's so called "freeway avoidance traffic” is killing this town. I sure hope the traffic commission and council can figure out a way to cut down on the freeway avoidance traffic.
Yeah JP. Keep it up. I am looking forward to the roundabout being finished on Hymmetus so we can see a little more of those race track fans heading south through our neighberhood. They don't like to stop so I am sure they will round right on...
Here is a HOT tip for todays 5th race!!! Dog Chow in the 5th, bet everything to win, cause if the horse doesn't win then it's off to the glue factory/dog food facility for this 4 legged nag!!!
And they're off..... it's Dog Chow leading at the first turn.....
Twenty years ago the area was still semi-rural and full of flower fields. I5 wasn't congested and you could still find an uncrowded break... no cellphones, no frappamochajavalattechinos, & the best funky holiday parade in SoCal. Now we have "real money" and "progress." BAH!
Off the subject a tad is the front page of AOL today. It's about bad train wrecks and which state is highest in them. But locals might recognize the photo that leads their story. It's our own beloved Leucdia Blvd RR crossing with a creamed Semi truck.

ReplyDeleteIn 5 years, there will be no cars on 101. Cheer up.
ReplyDeleteYeah JP - we love you.
