  1. "SMALL CHANGES MAKE A DIFFERENCE"

"The Cardiff 101 Chamber and Rob Machado have teamed
up to look toward the future and encourage our community
to enjoy sustainable living while celebrating our coastal
    lifestyle.
Our goal is to show that small changes make a difference.
Will there still be a shaping contest with enter-to-win prize
surfboards? You bet! But this year, they will be the new
environmentally friendly boards from INT and Malama.
There will also be new surfboards and bodyboards on
hand to demo so you can go in the water and try out the
latest and greatest in the green surf industry."

  2. Love the graphics and poster. Who did them?

  3. How much does Machado make off this deal??
Why do these for profit expos always come across as non-profit. They aren't.

  4. Dear 8:58
The proceeds from this event go directly to The Rob Machado Foundation, (non-profit), the Cardiff Education Foundation, (a non-profit organization that supports the Cardiff Elementary School fund programs for children that are not otherwise funded), and the Cardiff Chamber 101, (non-profit).
There are many people who have offered their time, energy and money to help put on this event to the benifit of their community. They should be thanked and honored.

Thank you for your interest in wanting to be aware of how any proceeds will be helping our community.

  6. Good explanation Anon 9:41. If only others could be so respectful, maybe more things would get done in our community.

  7. Ditto Dr. Lorri. Who did the great poster?

  8. The artwork was offered by Studio Aiuto.
They were showing at LeucadiART this year.

  10. go to The Leucadia Project blog and check out a board he designed. Pure genius.

  11. The poster is awful. It is too busy and is not readable. Why do you old hippies think the world needs your design, it has been rejected by the masses long ago. The 60's are over....believe it or not!
This event may be successful, but it won't be because of the poster. More likely due to the hard work of many volunteers.

Anon 1:50: I guess you didn't like the Encinitas Environment Day poster either, as it was along the same design. Us old hippies are at it again. So, please share some of your ideas on what might be a good one. We will die off soon, and then it will be your turn to make the changes so badly needed.

  13. Wow, gotta love the positivity of anonymous (1:50). What have you done to help your community, other than posting snarky comments? Also, you'll notice the poster is composed of way more elements than psychedelic hippy garb.

However, the website made up of PDFs... Oh well, it's for a good cause, I'll be there.

  14. 1:50 Your proctologist called! He found your head!

  15. Well people, I printed out the poster and placed at my desk today to promote the surf expo and ALL my co-workers said "what's that??" I then explained to them it is a old style hippie poster for an up and coming event at seaside. Most just shook their heads and walked off, another asked why it couldn't just say that. Well people?? Why can't it just say that?? Why does every poster for you 60's freaks have to include phychedelic images?? Was the LSD that good?? Can't you live in the real world?? When you 60's freaks are gone, most won't miss you. Those that do, your children that are incapable of reason and logic cause you let them believe that anything they do is ok, will curse your memory for leaving them helpless in world gone mad!!
I know the expo and surf experience are on a tight budget, but just because someone offers you something for free doesn't mean it's worth the price nor convey your message to the masses.

Next time call Dave Yant for poster design, he's good and cheap, he'll get your message across in an easy to understand way.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I urge all to not use Dave Yant and tell others not to use him because he was recomended by some narrow minded negative crab who offers nothing positive to a very positive event to benifit the community.
REMEMBER DO NOT USE DAVE YANT.
And remember to share this with poor Dave.

  17. Comment heard as friend walked by and saw poster, "What? Does he think he's Jimi Hendrix or something?"

    ReplyDelete
  18. Actually, Rob IS the Jimi Hendrix of surfing around these parts.

    The poster rocks.

  19. It takes an astounding level of cowardice to write such a vitriolic comment anonymously. You should be ashamed. Coward.

  20. 1:50 post.mortem. Old decrepit Arnold of our high school days, he really never got IT. Now he is all grown up and still a peavious perfidy of a person. Whine for whine's sake...boo hooo. What a sourpuss. I enjoy wine for wine's sake and sake:)

  21. It's just a stupid poster. Calm the fuck down everyone.

  22. I found out who 1:50 is so I thought I'd post a video I found of him. He's an outstanding news reporter. I thought he was dead.

  23. Interesting how the most hard core counter culture types buy in to the cult of personality stuff. Just like the surf industry corporations want them to.

When will Machado be on "Dancing With The Stars"?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think the Machado sign is fine.

I think the Cardiff sign is awesome. Simple and beautiful with a great message. I wish Leucadia had a cool green sign like that. Instead we have a concrete long board surrounded by dead plants and dirt Boring.......

Hence the difference between Cardiff and Leucadia.

At least I like the Leucadia logo with the tree. I think it might be a L101 logo.

  25. Hate to bring it up but who came up with "Keep Leucadia Funky?" Talking about living in the past. Glad I live in Cardiff.

  26. Poster has nice graphics but type is not readable. Can't see where, when and what -- which is very important when advertising an event. Good for Rob Machado for giving back to the community.

  27. Anon 5:19, better than the alternatives:
    "Be Like Birdrock" and
    "Leucadia: Connecting Carlsbad to Cardiff"

  28. I like "Leucadia- I5 West" ...When the freeway backups up, you can always rip though our town.
