Changes at Leucadia 7-11

So I hear that the 7-11 on Leucadia Blvd has a new owner and that the entire classic 7evey crew that has worked there forever has all been let go. Thoughts?

  1. It's prevented an art wars event, and all of 'dem were oh so nice. How sad.

  2. New owners,New employees. I wonder if any of them will speak English?

  3. It's a pretty shitty time to be looking for work. I think it is an additional challenge when your bean is covered in tats and your face looks like a javelin landing zone.

I voted for change last November but didn't expect it would be so close to home. Best wishes to the old crew.

  4. The folks who were fired have been good, loyal employees. I'm taking my 7-11 business elsewhere.

  5. 7:12 is that Jamacian eubonics you're speaking there?

  6. Bob,
Will you still feel that way the next time you need a fifth of vodka at 1:45 am?

  7. I suggest you take your $ across the tracks to El Torito Market. They have better prices (and a better selection of Bimbo baked goods too). Also, since Hugo Chávez hates America so much, I never buy his Sh*tgo gasoline.

  8. That Kwikie Mart looks EXACTLY like our 7-11 new, even down to the telephones and ethnic influence. That's funny. The faithful losing their jobs sucks though. I don't think Apooh would have ousted the employees though.

  9. Apooh doesn't have employees, that way he can NEVER pay TAXES for employees. Pockets the $$$ and no workers comp either!!!
    Good for them!!
Taxes and regulations have killed California !!

  10. I always cringed when Apooh backdated the milk expiration date.

  11. I will miss my 7-11 friends - I guess change is inevitable.

  12. the owner has probably never lived in Leucadia, most likely a Rancho wanna be trying to be green.

  13. I know all the tenants in that center are forced on to matching leases. The word is there is a major redevelopment of the center coming in the next few years to include housing on top of the stores to 3 stories and more retail.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Current zoning does not permit 3 stories. I'm not sure, but I don't recall mixed use allowed at that location either.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wrong. current zoning does allow three stories along Vulcan just like Hwy101. It sucks and should be changed in the next year.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The apartments at the other end of Vulcan, near La Costa Avenue, have approval to be demolished and replaced with 3 story condos. Nothing is happening right now, but we will see change.

  17. Lets all show everyone how raciest leucadia is by making jokes about Indian people! Way to go people!

  19. not when really cool hard working locals loose there job in this economy. Boycott the place. been going there since the 80ʻs when they had video game machines... the recent group of guys that lost their jobs did not deserve it, what a terrible discision by the new owners since the employees had such a good repore with all the locals...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Makes you wonder how much this "recent group of guys" was stealing or dealing...

    ReplyDelete
  21. yeah they were stealing in front of all the cameras and peddling drugs out of the back of the store.

Shut you mouth, did you know them you ignorant fuck? Get back on the 15 and head home!

  22. To all those leaving comments, I'd like to present this information to you: First of all, I have lived in Leucadia for over 20 years and been a loyal customer at 7-11. Despite the fact that every time I had ever gone there, the previous crew was rude or ignorant and never said hi to me once. Besides that, the store was disgustingly messy, coffee bar and slurpee machines had gunk all over them. And to top it off, I can distinctly remember many incidents where I was waiting in a lineup 5 or 6 deep with no other employee coming to help. Whats the point of 3 cash registers if you cant use them when there is a rush. I have gone recently and the new owners are polite and friendly, have introduced new items like the breakfast sandwiches, and the store is absolutely clean!!! I love it and look forward to getting my coffee fix every morning. Congrats to the new owner and I wish them all the best, instead of racist comments and jealous ignorant remarks. Hey, business is business and if the previous guys were the reason this store went from number 1 (6 years ago) in the country, to wherever it is at now (ive heard sales have dropped to around 2.5 million from close to 3 million), then that is all the more reason to bring in a new crew that can actually deliver. To all those who disagree, I challenge you to go there and see the friendly attitude and great customer service the new guys offer. I went in today and one of the new guys offered to bring an old womens groceries to her car while another guy promised me that he'd try different kinds of beer since the selection is currently very limited. Cheers to the new crew and F-OFF to the haters!!!

  23. When did this blog become so hateful. Way too many OC brats hanging out on the board.

p.s. in the day there were actually two full service banks located in town. Can you name them? HINT one was located in an old flower distribution building.

  24. This racism is shocking to me. Give the new owners a chance. The place may be much better. If not, don't go.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Not shocking to me.

Some anti change people can't even learn how to yield. How can they handle a change of 7-11 crew.

My god the world is ending!

  26. Right On Surfer Dude!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Not against the new owners but the old crew was classic leucadia - nice or not I don't think that point is debatable

    ReplyDelete
  28. It's a quickie mart now? Those are better than 7-11. Not like those last employees lost out on a promising career. They can get a shitty slave job someplace else.

  29. I love Indian puntang!

Stinky but sweat all at the same time.

  30. You racist goons who are now "locals" can go home. If you weren't here since birth or since 1969, go back to Minnesota and get some surf there, kooks.

  31. I love 69....

    Ummmmm!

  32. Racism always shows ignorance.

  33. SurferDude pretty much nailed it.

Place was a sh%thole and now is much better.

bravo to the new owners wanting make qualudia better.

  34. 1. the "classic leucadia" employees were fun but freaks and were selling booze to minors
    2. one of them told me before he was fired that the "AY-RABS" were taking over so good riddance to white trash
    3. the new crew is really friendly, speak like any other red blooded american (what ever that is), and actually seem like they want to help

    ReplyDelete
  35. You call the previous people there white trash, and you're not a racist? OK fine.
The place was always clean. The people there were friendly, creative and against drugs. The parking lot had just been redone with new pumps and extensive landscaping. And it is usually the top 7-11 in sales in the country, not just 6 years ago. It's shitty they got rid of all the old crew. Shadows of Flynt Michigan.
I'll still shop there unless they remove the mural. Time will tell if they are as community minded as the previous owners and crew.
Give us your wretched refuse from your teeming shores, but try not to rock the boat. sheeesh

  36. Sounds like the roundabout lovers got a lot of hate in them.

    ReplyDelete
  37. roundabout lovers have alot of brains in them.

We love to drive, ride or walk through our beloved roundabouts to sevy' whoever the crew.

If you don't love roundabouts, we know you are not playing with a full deck and your points don't really matter to intelligent people.

  38. Notice too, there is NO MUSIC in the 7-11 anymore. Are they Mormons or sumthin? I saw the coffee lady Barbara walking today who worked there. Told her how sorry I was she got axed. When I got coffee this morning there was no ice in the whipped cream or milk compartments, just a brownish tepid water. Lastly, gas at the mobile station on noth 101 per gallon is 10 cents less on all grades than 7-11.

Fuck!!! I moved here when I was two with my mom and dad in 1974. All these years I figured I was a "local", thanks for clarifying that for me, I guess I'll just head back to Minnesota....Man there are some idiots in this town...

  42. I miss the old 7-11 crew. They were the best, but I will give the new crew a chance.
