  2. How about porti-potties within an attractive architectural structure?

  3. parking? How about making that issue park of the L101 specific plan so that when sites are developed the developers put in parking?

  4. Parking should be included in both the streetscape and specific plan.

  7. At 300 million a day for war in Iraq, it just seems we could do a lot more with our tax dollars, like "Bury the Train"

  9. Yeah you guys are doing great. Just look at the park 4 years ago. we had 4 really cool looking 100 year old cypress and two 15 year old cypress. We had a tree canopy along HW101. We had less traffic and they weren't hauling Ass.

My parents taught me, actions speak louder than words.

I'd say you haven't done shit. In fact, since you've been trying to improve the area things have gotten worse.

Goals are great. Lets see you do something. Anything. Start with SLOWING THE FRICKEN SPEEDING CARLSBAD TRAFFIC DOWN.

  13. Re/ 7:01
Good ideas. I'll see what we can do about making the sun shine longer and talk the president into sending $600 to every American to help with gas prices.

  14. First step, be aware. Second step, set goals. Third step, act, with vision and courage.

There have always been "naysayers" and there always will be.

I think the goals suggested on the original post, and most of the comments are right on target. Including yours, JP, about porta-potties "within an attractive architectural structure."

We can make compromises without compromising our integrity. We can be pro-active instead of reactive, including to those who would discredit the efforts of activists.

Elementary school enrollment is going down. Pacific View was shut down. Why do we need more sports fields when there are fewer kids using them?

We could still have a field back at Pacific View. The City paved it over for the temp location of the Public Works Yard.

I think that we can find happy compromises between the businesses, residents and the train, which has been part of 101 since most of the people screaming "bury it" were born. We don't have the money to bury it, now, unfortunately.

Getting realistic about what we can afford to do, at a city level, is where we are at, right now.
