Is Encinitas in Real America or Fake America?
John McCain's VP candidate Sarah Palin says she likes to visit the patriotic "pro-America" parts of America. You know, the places where there are farmers and factory workers and people who are not big city elitist.
Is Encinitas in Real America?
We are in California so that is a mark against us, but there might be oil offshore, DRILL BABY DRILL so who knows?
We have a nice downtown mainstreet that is easily 1000 times nicer than Wasilla's mainstreet (have you seen Wasilla's mainstreet? It's a shithole. Google it.) and we have nice middle class and working class people and neighborhoods. Of course, Obama's tax policy is much better for the majority of Encinitas citizens but hopefully they all know that Obama is a terrorist muslim (why would a terrorist muslim want to cut taxes for the middle class?)
There are even farmers in Encinits! And golfers too! We don't play hockey but we got tricked on that one, isn't hockey like a Canadian thing? Maybe she got confused because she can see Canada from her house and thought she was looking at America?
The Real America means Vikings, lots and lots of Vikings. Check your home for Vikings. If no Vikings then you are not a Real American.
Our only factories are a couple of surfboard factories that are clinging to life before they get closed down and moved to China. But we do have like 50 Italian restaurants.
These three guys are at the ground zero of Fake America, the big city! I bet after they burn that flag they are going to drive their hybrid cars to get lattes.
Encinitas also has a good number of people serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think there are lots of people in the military from the Fake America parts of America. I'm surprised they were allowed to enlist. Don't ask don't tell?
Gosh, I sure hope our future dictator Lord Palin considers Encinitas to be in Real America. You betcha'!

Vote Nanninga to preserve the real Encinitas!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I'm not a native Californian; I grew up in a Colonial-era city in the NE "Rust Belt", then lived ten years in the "New South" (and loved it) before moving to Encinitas; I drink Espresso Americanos instead of grocery store drip coffee; I've always driven a small gas-powered car with a pretty good MPG; I ride my bike for errands sometimes, not just for exercise or recreation; most of my in-law family lives in Norway and the all cousins have Norse god names (is that Viking enough?); my younger sisters and niece back the NYS Rust Belt play competitive amateur ice hockey, sometimes advancing to the state and national levels; my youngest sister hunts deer and turkey in NYS and big game in Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska (and she's an NRA member); I eat lots of American buffalo (bison), raised on the range of Montana; my formerly "Goldwater supporting" dad has publicly opposed the Iraq war from the beginning and still attends a weekly peace vigil in his town and wears a "choose peace" button every day; I grew up with and know a family that lost a son in the 9/11 WTC attack; I have several local military or reserves-connected close friends with husbands who have served or are currently serving in Iraq at least two times; I make a concerted effort to support our locally owned businesses and farmers with my purchases; I vote in every primary and election, though I no longer am registered to a political party and often hold my nose while voting because I think neither major party has a good platform; I am married to a former Permanent Resident Alien, but now he's a recently naturalized citizen who does more pre-vote research than I do and has always known American history better, too (his UK education was vastly superior); I love traveling without a car in well-connected urban areas (much, much easier to accomplish in foreign countries than in Encinitas or SD) and I greatly appreciate roundabouts, subways, trains, busses, and all sorts of well-organized "non-American" systems; I'm not very sastified with American public education; and I read a lot, though I never get beyond the cover of tabloids in store checkout line or the dentist office (I usually have a non-fiction book with me if I anticipate waiting time because I have zero interest in the troubled lives of celebrities); I've continuously possessed a passport since age 18 (mid-40s now); though I've never been to Russia, I've spent time in homes in a majority of the continents and in more countries that Ms. Palin can name or locate on a map, probably).
ReplyDeleteWonder which America Ms. Palin thinks I live in? Damned if I know, but it sure feels real.
Two voting groups descended on San Diego's board of supervisors today to protest the recent appointment of former Diebold saleswoman, Deborah Seiler, as the county's new registrar of voters. They also want Seiler's new assistant registrar, Michael Vu, ousted due to controversies surrounding his tenure as elections director in Ohio. Vu resigned as elections director from Cuyahoga County, Ohio, last year after two of his staff members were convicted of rigging the 2004 presidential recount and after reports revealed numerous problems with the way elections were administered during his time on the job.

Fake, FAKE...Palin is the biggest fake since WMDs. She is the Neo-Con's ideal of a righteous woman...a combination of Barbie and a Stepford Wife with more than a touch of the Wicked Witch. Her theme song is "It's My Pageant and I'll Rogue if I Want To." Poor old McCain. He never had a chance, with his resemblence to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and all. I just wonder how long Palin will keep using the rhythm method should she become VP. What a fruitloop.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, LA and SF will select the electoral collage votes for California, so why should we give a crap?
ReplyDeleteWe should not. But we can improve things by voting for Prop 11 to help the citizens choose their representatives, and locally by voting for Jerome Stocks, James Bond, and Doug Long to protect and preserve the quality of life we've enjoyed around here for so long. Truthfully, this city is way better now in every way than it was in 1998 and Jerome Stocks and James Bond are why. Houlihan has been a drag.
Worse than obama becoming president is the fact the democrats will control both houses and the low life liberal scum will be able to enact any loony piece of legislation they please. Just look at who will be in control: obama, pelosi, reed, barny frank, ted, tell me they aren't left wing wacko's. I'm sure our founding fathers would roll over in their graves if they knew we were going communist. United Socialist States of Amerika. Get used to it.
ReplyDeleteThe same tired, sorry list put out for thirty years never loses its appeal to the haters. The anonymous area man has touched on only a few of the classics. That has become the legacy of GOP – United Hates of America to make the fearful respond in hate and distrust to buzzwords that signal ‘other’. The whole appeal is “I’ve got mine, fuck the rest of you.”

Obama is not a socialist. Don't believe everything Sean Hannity and Roger Hedgecock tell you. If you don't want to vote for Obama please vote for a third party candidate. Do not encourage Palin by giving her your vote.
ReplyDeleteShacky- you can't vote for Palin for Vice President!! Read your constitution. You vote for President of the United States, no where can you place a vote for Vice President. You are the classic example of an idiot with the right to vote. Your stupidity knows no boundaries. Sadly you can vote and that scares me more than Palin or McCain!!

ReplyDeleteYeah, I thought Archie Bunker died.
Is it beer thirty already? Palin is on the ticket. A vote for McCain is also a vote for Palin. Putting Palin in the White House would be a really, really, really stupid fucking move.
ReplyDeleteAgain, Shacky, you are too stupid to reason with, do us all a favor and don't vote. And yes now it is beer thirty!!!

ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say four-twenty, snicker snicker.
This is what the Republican Party has done to us this year: It has placed within reach of the Oval Office a woman who is a religious fanatic and a proud, boastful ignoramus. Those who despise science and learning are not anti-elitist. They are morally and intellectually slothful people who are secretly envious of the educated and the cultured. And those who prate of spiritual warfare and demons are not just "people of faith" but theocratic bullies. On Nov. 4, anyone who cares for the Constitution has a clear duty to repudiate this wickedness and stupidity.
ReplyDeleteI will be voting yes on 4,yes on 8 & well you can guess the way the rest of my votes will go, but I have friends that will vote the other way. ( they drink to much koolaid, most of it from the media) but they are still my friends. I used to vote to the left, after I started a family things changed, because you want the best for your kids,& wife. the weed smoking stops & the fog goes away your eyes open to the truth (for most of us).We live in a military city.L.A. & Northern California more on the other side of the fence. But we are all still Americans.I'm sure Palin would love north county. So lets get along. much love, from all of us @ one of north countys largest surf retailers. see you in the water.
