Sheriff's Signs

Sheriff's union breaks the law in order to support candidates?

This sign was put up by the deputy sheriffs association, which I think is basically a union. It is on the site set aside for the new Cardiff fire station (another property that the city overpaid to acquire.) That is public property, so I think putting a sign there is a violation of the law.

This won't win the contest, but it might get an honorable mention.

Complaints about illegally placed signs?

Call Code Enforcement 633-2685. Do not take them down yourself as that is a misdemeanor.

  1. I think it’s hilarious that a Red Country Republican's biggest campaign contributors and supporters are City Hall Unions. I guess they know who can be bought and who will crank up their pension to the maximum at the expense of the ever popular resident tax dollar.

Jerome Stocks is in good company with the likes of Duke Cunningham and George Bush. Way to go fakey Republicans.

Joe – you should go after Jerome Stocks hard on this one. He gives real republicans a bad name and they don’t need any more help on that subject.

  2. No wonder the criminals don't follow the rules, neither do the sheriffs. Mayor Stocks is again associated with special interest groups as is Mr. Long who has proudly indicated to the press(Coast News) that he plans to vote with the boys if elected.

  3. Has anyone noticed that Brandenburg has tied his name in with Long and Stocks. So much for him being a consideration.

  4. The fake Judge was never a consideration.

  5. The Judge simple got the endorsement of the deputy sheriff's. They are tying him in with the other two losers.

  6. That makes three losers.... the three biggest supporters of City Hall unions bankrupting our City and leaving no money for parks or street improvements.

Go after them Joe. So how fake Jerome Stocks is… he will continue to sell out the public for special interest his entire political career…. He is a Duke Cunningham waiting to happen.

  7. So if the sign gets "broken" by walking on public land, is still a misdemeanor? haha

  8. This is a wonderful country!! Even people who know NOTHING can voice their know-nothing opinions! Educate yourself, for all of our sake!!! Brandenburg is a judge, he is NOT tied in with the others, and he is more of a local than most of the phonies who discredit him. It is sad, but I really do have to question the brain power of some people!! I guess all I really have to say is: "Welcome to (Encinitas) California, now go home!!!

  9. That's funny, I had to appear in front of Judge Brandenburg TWICE. Once in Vista for a small claims case, and once out on the Indian reservation as a witness for another case. Maybe I was imagining the whole thing?

I have always been struck how some people think being a "Local" is so important, why? Danny Dalager is about as local as they come, case closed. I think it is considerably more important that a candidate have a firm grasp of the issues and a large degree of good sense and conviction to do what is best for the community, That doesn't mean they have to have been born here, nor that they will automatically have those qualities. The fact that Sheffo, Brandenburg and Long have been here most of there lives doesn't matter a bit to me.

  11. Welcome to Encinitas, California! Being a local helps me understand what is best for Encinitas. I remember when the intersection at El Camino Real and Encinitas Blvd was a four way stop sign. I've seen how incorporation and the multitude of NIMBYs have screwed up this town: Blocking off public streets, installing stops signs every 30 yards, and bitching and complaining about pretty much everything. It is hilarious when people talk about being "qualified" to run for political office. There are no qualifications except citizenship and a clean criminal record! There are however certain characteristics which seem condusive to being an effective public servant. By the way, a personal agenda (or vendetta) is not one of them.

I understand that you have lived here a long time, and that you have seen change based on an increased population (would have happened with or without incorporation), but help me understand why that would make you (presumably) a better candidate.

I just don't agree that "Being a local helps me understand what is best for Encinitas." Everyone believes they know what's best for Encinitas. In fact, many of the people that care the most, volunteer their time for the benefit of the city, are not natives. Being a "native" doesn't give anyone a special edge, it only means that you didn't move away.
