  1. I understand that Maggie and Racheal both stated that they did what the negative ads said they did.

If that is the case, the truth hurts...

    Please come clean!

  4. More Power Plants?

The City of Carlsbad is sponsoring a community forum regarding the plans to build a second power plant at the 100-acre site just off the I-5 freeway and Cannon Rd.

Stop by on Thursday, November 6, 2008:

Carlsbad Faraday Center, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008

    5:30pm Open House

    6:00pm Presentation

    6:30pm Community input

For more information you can call (760) 434-2820 or www.carlsbadconnected.com

The Coastal Commission is the regulating body that has the right to approve the project. The City of Carlsbad officially opposes it because “it seriously limits future opportunities to redevelop this land in a way that better meets the needs of the community”.

They also noted that the tearing down of the old plant is not expected; it will exist for another 10-15 years minimum.

Not mentioned was the city’s bungling of their opportunity to purchase the property a few years ago, when the current owner, NRG West, outbid them.

  9. Jerome Stocks is the Devil to Encinitas.

James Bond is a liar and bad example for our children. James Bond completely loss all my respect after all his lying in this campaign.

Both these fools just love being in the lime light of City Politics and it gets me sick. They are really bad for Encinitas.

Vote for anyone else but these two losers. I wish they would both move to Carlsbad.

  10. what does needle exchange have to do with issues in our city? And why would anyone be against a program designed to save people from spreading HIV. This is a weak attempt to spin a non-issue against Rachelle.

  11. Man, I'm pretty sick of this election year, but I'm soooo up for some change. I've been to some of the forums; not impressed with the sitting council. I'm sure they've done a ton of hard work for Encinitas, but its time for a change.

Let's say no to Stocks and Bonds and yes to Rachelle, Bob, and Jeff

You think it can happen? Spread the word and change can happen, this year

  14. October 30, 2008 Today U/T
ENCINITAS – Rachelle Collier, a candidate for Encinitas City Council, called a news conference yesterday to condemn the use of automated phone calls that say she supports lifting a ban on needle-exchange programs – but later admitted the calls were accurate.

    -------

Rachelle knowingly held a press conference and misled the press and her followers so she could allow Houlihan a forum to accuse a competitor of something that she knew wasn't true.

And you wonder 'why' people told Rachelle not to become a Siameze twin to Houlhan, now, if she is elected, it will be on the strength of a lie, just like Houlihan did 8 years ago.

Lie down with dogs, you get fleas.

    Go Maggie!

    Go Rachelle.

    Very interesting.
I agree with most of it, but Tony seems to riding both sides of the fence. He is on posters of Stocks, Bond too. Good politics, bad ethics.
    Sub Bob.

Spread this around, if you think this is true.

  16. Jerome is really, really busy on this blog lately. He takes pot shots at Maggie and Rachel under Anon or nonsensical names, and is the one who lit the fire under Eiler about the triathalon nonsense (which the City attorney opined was not unethical or illegal or anti-anything, and which City attorney memo was given to Eiler == since when did he become a client representative of the City -- Jerome, don't you know that attorney-client privilege is only as good as the client's ability to keep it confidential!) And, isn't Eiler some old fart who is obsessed with Maggie Houlihan because he felt she insulted him -- what did she do, rebuff his advances, tell him his breath stunk, insulted his vehicle, refuse to listen to one more lecture on Wagner? What sad, sad little men we have in this town. Come on, Jerome, I can take it, call me a moron, idiot, skank, whatever....your boat is going down.....

  17. One thing for Certain.

Jerome Stocks is the most hated man in Encinitas, and for good reason.

    and

Most of us feel sorry for James Bond entering the active period of Alzheimers. I would hate to watch him deteriorate more in the public eye. Plus he just make bad decisions’ which is bad for the City.

I agree with a previous post.

WHooooo - this town needs an enigma

  18. Bonddi: Could you give me more information on Glenn Sabine's memo to the City that was then given to Eiler? I would be interested in learning the details. How did you go about finding this out? If you would like to backchannel me on this, please feel free. I am more than happy to give out my name and e-mail, as I do not like to post anonymously. Thanks for any information on this matter. My e-mail is: lgreene98@aol.com

  19. Go get em Dr. Lorri. If you bring suet to the criminals in this town, I will have your back.

  20. Dr. Lorri:
This is public knowledge, it was printed in the San Diego Union Tribune as a direct quote of Eiler's. See the link on JP's website for the UT.
"Eiler's complaint includes an Oct. 22, 2006, memo to the City Council initialed by City Attorney Glenn Sabine. Sabine said in the memo that he discussed the matter with two members of the Fair Political Practices Commission staff and that they “did not find any impropriety based on the fact that the travel reimbursement amounted to consideration for Ian Thompson's participation.”

"Eiler declined to say where he obtained the memo, which the city last week could not produce in response to a California Public Records Act request."

[Gee -- I am so surprised, the requestor should request copies of Sabine's attorney bills to see what he was working on and if he prepared a memo on this --- if he billed for it, where is it?]

"Sabine didn't recall the memo this week but confirmed it had his initials on it."
[Didn't recall the memo -- he was probably paid $1,500 to prepare it, but can't recall it...a political hot potato about Maggie...hard to believe he forgot about it unless there are so many memos about Maggie]

"Council members said they remembered getting the e-mail from Sabine."

As far as I am aware, there are only 6 "city" clients, the councilmembers and the City Manager and one City Attorney. Doesn't take a probiscus with a Ph.D. in BS to figure out who leaked this memo -- only problem is, the memo exonerates Houlihan, yet Eiler attached it to his complaint as evidence (guess he forgot to read the all important phrase "did NOT find." Whose on first anyway in this fantasy game of political poltergeists?

  22. I just sent in a request regarding Sabine and Eiler to the City Clerk asking for any and all information regarding Eiler and Sabine. Will keep you all posted. IMHO Glen Sabine has done more harm than good to our City with his often poor, incomplete or just bad advice. He gets over a half a million dollars a year from us taxpayers, as well as perks. So, all information would be appreciated, as I would very much like to see Council hire someone else.

  23. Ego and Mouth
    By Thomas Sowell

After the big gamble on subprime mortgages that led to the current financial crisis, is there going to be an even bigger gamble, by putting the fate of a nation in the hands of a man whose only qualifications are ego and mouth?

Barack Obama has the kind of cocksure confidence that can only be achieved by not achieving anything else.

Anyone who has actually had to take responsibility for consequences by running any kind of enterprise-- whether economic or academic, or even just managing a sports team-- is likely at some point to be chastened by either the setbacks brought on by his own mistakes or by seeing his successes followed by negative consequences that he never anticipated.

The kind of self-righteous self-confidence that has become Obama's trademark is usually found in sophomores in Ivy League colleges-- very bright and articulate students, utterly untempered by experience in real world.

The signs of Barack Obama's self-centered immaturity are painfully obvious, though ignored by true believers who have poured their hopes into him, and by the media who just want the symbolism and the ideology that Obama represents.

The triumphal tour of world capitals and photo-op meetings with world leaders by someone who, after all, was still merely a candidate, is just one sign of this self-centered immaturity.

"This is our time!" he proclaimed. And "I will change the world." But ultimately this election is not about him, but about the fate of this nation, at a time of both domestic and international peril, with a major financial crisis still unresolved and a nuclear Iran looming on the horizon.

For someone who has actually accomplished nothing to blithely talk about taking away what has been earned by those who have accomplished something, and give it to whomever he chooses in the name of "spreading the wealth," is the kind of casual arrogance that has led to many economic catastrophes in many countries.

The equally casual ease with which Barack Obama has talked about appointing judges on the basis of their empathies with various segments of the population makes a mockery of the very concept of law.

After this man has wrecked the economy and destroyed constitutional law with his judicial appointments, what can he do for an encore? He can cripple the military and gamble America's future on his ability to sit down with enemy nations and talk them out of causing trouble.

Senator Obama's running mate, Senator Joe Biden, has for years shown the same easy-way-out mindset. Senator Biden has for decades opposed strengthening our military forces. In 1991, Biden urged relying on sanctions to get Saddam Hussein's troops out of Kuwait, instead of military force, despite the demonstrated futility of sanctions as a means of undoing an invasion.

People who think Governor Sarah Palin didn't handle some "gotcha" questions well in a couple of interviews show no interest in how she compares to the Democrats' Vice Presidential candidate, Senator Biden.

Joe Biden is much more of the kind of politician the mainstream media like. Not only is he a liberal's liberal, he answers questions far more glibly than Governor Palin-- grossly inaccurately in many cases, but glibly.

Moreover, this is a long-standing pattern with Biden. When he was running for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination back in 1987, someone in the audience asked him what law school he attended and how well he did.

Flashing his special phony smile, Biden said, "I think I have a much higher IQ than you do." He added, "I went to law school on a full academic scholarship" and "ended up in the top half" of the class.

But Biden did not have a full academic scholarship. Newsweek reported: "He went on a half scholarship based on need. He didn't finish in the 'top half' of his class. He was 76th out of 85."

Add to Obama and Biden House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and you have all the ingredients for a historic meltdown.

  24. Yoohoo Denial: in case you hadn't noticed the historical meltdown is in full swing RIGHT NOW.
