I watched some of it, couldn't stomach the whole thing. Saw some highlights on A Daily Show and the Colbert Report.
Bush's highlights; the union is strong. No mention that the economy and public confidence is not.
I'm so glad Bush's terms of Terror and war is almost over. Same for our three councilman majority, here.
People want open, honest and accountable government, as has been said, and repeated. But not with Bush. His legacy will be one of deception, including self-deception.
People also want to maintain our freedoms and right to privacy, to be treated fairly and civilly by government "authorities." The government is by and for the people, and should not be "us vs. you."
I don't think our national and local image needs to be one of projected arrogance and self-serving, self aggrandizement.
We are good people. We want some honest leaders, with humility, candor, and vision. Some people here can't see the forest, for the destruction of our trees.
The destruction of community pride can lead to apathy, indifference. But hope springs eternal, and change is in the air, I agree.
I missed it, did I miss much? Do I need my Bush-Speak Dictionary of Acronyms? Really, please someone summarize it for me in 5 words or less.
