Easily Bored Gaspar Supporter Identified

Encinitas Rotary President looks a lot like one of the two fellows who left early from the LTC candidate forum, after one of them was too classy for the Leucadia crowd

Classy rotary humor from their October 13 newsletter:

If only Kranz had more Rotary experience.

Gaspar must be thrilled to have their support.

  2. This is disgusting. So the president of the Rotary Club resorts to calling a councilwoman a whore in a public forum? And this is an organization that deserves our respect? He should be ashamed. Our city deserves better

I think this all indicates a real apprehension on the part of the Dalager/Gaspar/developer machine. Simple disinformation and campaign signs don't seem to be distracting everyone from the obvious lack of competence and graft, so the next logical step is to call your opponent a socialist, call his mother a socialist, demean his service to his country, or call her a whore. This indicates desperation, and also just how bankrupt the Dalager/Gaspar machine really is. It's bitter old white guys who think they own the city and can't stand the idea of the people standing up and actually reclaiming it for themselves

  4. DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT!!!

THEY ARE DEPENDING ON PEOPLE REMAINING IGNORANT!!! LIKE VOTING FOR JAMES BOND BECAUSE OF HIS LAST NAME, OR GASPAR BECAUSE OF HER LOOKS!

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!!!DO NOT LET THE BIG MONEY FLIERS PAID FOR BY UNIDENTIFIABLE OUTSIDE INTERESTS BUY THIS ELECTION!!!

  5. 1. He needs to resign from Rotary.
    2. He needs to apologize to Teresa
    3. The Rotary Club of Encinitas needs to apolgize to all Encinitas citizens.

Their actions are not fair to all concerned, Their actions do not build goodwill and friendships.

This is not an isolated incedent with each acting as individuals.

Kristin Gaspar has made Rotary part of her platform and credentials as Past President, and the Rotary club current leadership including the President has made themselves part of her political team.

Kristin and the two men, Pleaae for the good of Rotary, and for the good of the Encintias Rotary Club resign.

Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICAL to all concerned?

I'm shocked. Just shocked I tell you. As a woman I wish that I was more shocked.

  8. I would imagine that Bolus, Dalager, Stocks, Bond and Gaspar are chuckling at how easily offended we all are. And they're right, we are offended, because this mentality is just that - offensive. How much longer are we going to tolerate the cynical treatment of our city as a plaything for people like this?

    ReplyDelete
  9. This was so offensive, I had to see it to believe it, so I took the hyperlink into Rotary Warp
Drive and landed in 500 B.C. WTF! This organization sponsors children's soocer tournaments but tolerates discrimination against women, and distributes literature demeaning women. How can Gaspar be associated with such idiots? Would you want those goons "coaching" your daughter's soccer team? A pretty face, a dirty lie.

  10. The Rotary (boys and bond)Club must be shut down. I'm call the news and telling them that we plan to attend the next Rotary Meeting (BIG WEDNESDAY, 10/27, high noon).

Encinitas Rotary Club meets Wednesdays at noon at the Elks Lodge at 1393 Windsor Road in Cardiff.

We plan to ask the President to step down or we will boycott all of their businesses.

PLEASE JOIN OUR GROUP ON THE 27TH. Right now I have 23 people who plan to attend.

We must not let them get away with this abuse.

hRoger Bolus is a disgrace to the Rotary Club and should resign so as not to cast aspersions on other members who don't condone his utterly misogynistic, reprehensible behavior. Kristin, you are supporting his disgraceful behavior. He is not propelled by the lofty principles of the rotary and the disgusting piece comparing women to guns ought to cause any self respecting women to reconsider their membership and contribution to an organization headed by a guy with such blatant contempt for women. His deeply offensive comment to Teresa Barth was not a misstep, but was consistent with a man who harbors unacceptable hostility to women. This guy is not propelled by his heart or his brain and that's unfortunate for the other truly well meaning members who do try to improve their community. He should be ousted and he should issue a public apology to Teresa Barth whose reputation he attempted to impugn in a public forum.

  13. It sounds like the Encinitas Rotary is a pretty sleazy club.

I wonder what Rotary International would think of our local Rotary club's newsletter jokes and the behavior of its President?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Kristin Gaspar has not learned an important life lesson that we are often judged on the quality of the company we keep. There is her political pairing with Dirty Dan, her backing by big time development money and her membership and association with a current rotary president who devalues and debases women. That's leaving out supporters like Stocks and Andreen. Girl, you are up to your neck in slime. Maybe you can request a do-over at a later date when the public's memory of these associations wanes and your children's need for hands on parenting declines.

    ReplyDelete
  15. We are surrounded by political whores. No one gets into public office without being beholden to someone else, having compromised and made deals along the way. That's reality.

BTW, what ever happened to the Ladies In Black and all their fierce moral urgency? Oh, yeah, Bush isn't president anymore... Obama's wars are cool, right?

  16. To 7:13. I do not like to know that there are people in our city that would excuse this inexcusable transgression of civility. But, here you are. Are you a rotary member, too?

I just wrote to Rotary International. I would encourage other to do the same. I do not believe our Rotary membership, as a whole is not noble, but it needs to get rid of the bad apples that tarnish their worthy efforts. That the ugliness comes from their leadership concerns me.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Anon 9:55- Who is the WE that is going to the Rotary meeting? I am always a bit skeptical of protesting something when I don't know who is putting it together. Could you please let us know who you are so we don't walk into a minefield? Thanks. I realize I am posting anonymously but in this case it cannot be helped. Also, are we all sure that the man who called Teresa a whore is the President of Encinitas Rotary, or even a member? If so, I would be willing to write to the Rotary International and file a complaint.

  18. Waxing philosophicalOctober 20, 2010 8:33 AM

Although I agree with them, I think some of the people who are outraged at the flouting of the Rotarian's "four-way test" of right action by Bolus are missing the point. I don't deny there are good people in the Rotary, however, people don't join the Rotary, community organizations or political parties, simply because they believe in the founding principles. They join to be in the company of others with beliefs similar to their own, hence the presence of Stocks, Dalagar, Gaspar and Bond in the Rotary. And they join to share and promote those beliefs. I don't care if Bolus steps down as Rotary president or not. In fact, as long as he remains he is living breathing example of the hypocrisy inherent in the local organization. If their members have consciences, let them struggle with that contradiction and come to their own resolution. In the mean time, let's not lose focus and continue to expose the striking lack of substance and transparency in Dalagar and Gaspar.

  23. Looking through all of the Rotary Newsletters I find that 25% of every single one is devoted to misogynist or other coarse tidbit considered funny by dirty old men. The superintendents of Encinitas and Cardiff school districts are Roatary members. Lauren Pause is a Rotarian. What do these people, people who have professions devoted to human services and children's education think of this? Have they demanded better? I think we should ask the people we know and trust - as well as some hierarchy bosses we don't know - to pay attention. Hate is a cancer for our community.

Take your weapon into your hand. Feel it's weight. It's nice isn't it? Yes, oh yes. Caress the chamber. Now push in a bullet. Ohhhh. Tremble as it goes "click". Now wrap your mouth around the barrel. Feel the cold steel against your tongue. Take a deep breath and slowly squeeze the trigger. Fade to black.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's disgusting just how deep the rot goes. Would these school superintendents condone these newsletters being read in their classrooms? What kind of example does that set? The sad thing is, if you press them, they'll just say, " oh, we didn't mean anything by it... stop being so sensitive". In other words, the rot is so deep they aren't even consciously aware of it. They think this should be business as usual. This mentality slowly erodes our sense of civility and respect.

  28. from the December 6th newsletter.

A well dressed woman and Boys testicles? This make it into your newsletters?

A father walks into a restaurant with his young son. He
gives the boy 3 nickels to play with to keep him
occupied. Suddenly, the boy starts choking, going blue
in the face. The father realizes the boy has swallowed
the nickels and starts slapping him on the back…
The boy coughs up 2 of the nickels, but keeps choking.
Looking at his son, the father is panicking, shouting for
    help.
A well dressed, attractive and serious looking woman is
sitting at a counter sipping coffee and reading the
paper. At the sound of the commotion, she puts her
cup and paper down and makes her way, unhurried
across the restaurant. Reaching the boy, the woman
carefully drops his pants; takes hold of the boy’s
testicles and starts to squeeze and twist, gently at first
and then ever so firmly… After a few seconds the boy
convulses violently and coughs up the last nickel, which
the woman deftly catches in her free hand.
Releasing the boy’s testicles, the woman hands the
nickel to the father and walks back to her seat without
    saying a word.
As soon as he is sure his son has suffered no ill effects,
the father rushes over to the woman and starts
thanking her saying,” I’ve never seen anybody do
anything like that before, it was fantastic. Are you a
    doctor?”
“No”, the woman replied. “I’m with the I.R.S.”

  30. Am I understanding this right, are the most egregious “crimes” committed by the rotary club that we can come up with are the “ten reasons guns are better” joke and a rotary club guy calling someone a “whore”? The only thing I know about the rotary club is what I just read on their websites. It sounds like their intentions are honorable (of course, even al Qaeda can sound honorable on a website). It does not feel like we are going to win this election if the best we can come up with is slamming the rotary club….pretty weak. Focus on the issues: environmental considerations, democratic process and fiscal responsibility.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Am I to believe the aged, people of color, children, and Specifically Challenged people have not been a target of smarmy clips from the Encinitas Branch in their other newsletters?

  32. Read the newsletters, every one has a demeaning "joke" about women -- the type of jokes that only creepy women-hating men think are funny. How can Kristin Gaspar belong to such a group, where parents have to hide the newsletters from their elementary school children --- can you imagine your children going around telling these "jokes" --- really, this group makes me sick.

    ReplyDelete
  33. hey 11:09, i just randomly opened one of the news letters (sept 22nd), no demeaning joke. I guess you did not mean "every one" has a demeaning joke.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I opened more of the newsletters, can't find anything close to a demeaning joke...11:09 perhaps you meant to say "none" rather than "every one"?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm not a "creepy woman hating man" (and have never met one) and I'm not a "victim" of a Rotary newsletter just because they pass along stupid jokes. Don't like it? Don't join! Problem solved! The weaklings getting the vapors must have some major insecurity issues to get so riled up.

I still haven't seen any evidence of the "whore" comment, just some hysterical hearsay.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Why would the Encinitas School District pay for their Super-intendent (Tim Braid) to be part of this organization?

I would ask for him to set an example and step off the Rotary.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 11:30 - you are part of the problem if you can't determine whether a "joke" is designed to denigrate women -- I will give you a clue, it usually has a woman in it and something sexual about it....the fact that this Rotary club institutionalizes degradation of women so successfully that its own members can't see the forest for the trees is scary.

    ReplyDelete
  38. 11:35
Watch the video. You hear Teresa say,"What did you call me, sir?", and the people in front, Teresa and Dan heard what was said.

  39. From Rotary Club's August 25, 2010 newsletter:
    FIVE MINUTE MANAGEMENT
A priest offered a Nun a lift. She got in the car and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a
leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his
hand up her leg. The Nun said,”Father, remember Psalm 129?”
The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The
Nun again said,”Father, remember Psalm 129?” The priest apologized”Sorry sister but the flesh is weak.”
Arriving at the convent, the nun sighed heavily and went on her way. On his arrival at the
church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said,”Go forth and seek. Further up, you will find
    Glory.”
MORAL OF THIS STORY: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

A woman was helping her husband set up his new computer. At the appropriate time in the process, she told him that he would now need to enter a password. She explained that he would use it to log on.The husband was in a rather devilish mood and
figured he would try for the shock effect to bring this to his wife’s attention. So when the computer
asked him to enter his password, he made it plainly obvious to his wife that he was keying in:

His wife nearly fell out of her chair laughing
    when the computer replied

these are offensive in a community organization's newsletter

    ReplyDelete
  40. This is the newsletter that goes out to the WHOLE membership.

It might be funny, but only an idiot would think that all of those jokes promote good will and bring the community together. That is what the rotary stands for, expect where the rotary is really just the good old boys club, with a charity frosting coating.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anon 11:35 said,

"..Don't like it? Don't join! Problem solved! "

This totally misses the point. It's not a question of whether any of us would join. It's that Dalager, Gaspar, Stocks, Bond, and shockingly some school superintendents did join! And Gaspar at least is touting her Rotary membership in her campaign, so by her silence, she tacitly endorses the activities of the Rotary club president and the newsletter. That's the issue. Calling those who object weaklings is a predictable reversion to taunts and ridicule, when something you don't want to be known is brought to light. If you want to question the fortitude of someone, you should question those in the Rotary who by their silence tacitly condone this kind of behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Really, the best you can do to “denigrate” the candidates supported by the rotary club is to complain that the rotary clubs jokes are offensive and one of their leaders called someone a whore? Pathetic. If you want Tony and Theresa to win, articulate and tout their position on important stuff. Don’t bash a private sector organization for exercising their first amendment right to free speech.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Kristin and the two men, Please "for the good of Rotary, and for the good of the Encintias Rotary Club resign."

As a former Rotarian in Encinitas I implore upon these power hungry people to heed the advice of those noted above including ANONYMOUS October 19, 2010 9:01 PM

Rotary has a purpose and is good but, I resigned my membership after realizing that the club was full of those that promote themselves at the expense of others. Notexactly the "Service above Self" types. These are RINOs Rotary in Name Only!

They act similar to the Del
Mar secret Police when it comes to politics and will eventually ruin all that Encinitas has become.

    ReplyDelete
  44. good point anon 134,

Tony and Barth are out on the streets explain their positions right now.

Kristin is out on the streets hiding her positions and touting her Rotary membership. To paraphrase, she says, "I'm in Rotary so I should be Mayor of Encinitas!"

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anon 1:34. Again, more bluster and insults. You can't have it both ways. Either character counts or it doesn't, and isn't it fair to judge character by one's associations unless they are repudiated? As for the Rotary "exercising their first amendment right to free speech", sure go ahead, keep cracking your jokes and calling people whores in public forums, but don't expect us not to exercise our right to free speech by calling you out. And, as for Tony and Teresa articulating their positions, I've attended the forums and all I can say is that the difference in substance is striking.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Has anyone besides me received nasty e-mails about Teresa? In my 25 years of living in Cardiff/Encinitas, I have never seen a campaign this ugly for City Council. What is the difference-Kristin Gaspar. I have never met her and she probably does not read this blog, but if this is the kind of politics we are in for if she is elected, then it is going to be a very bumby ride for anyone who wants accountability within our City.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Why this ugly? The landowners are afraid of losing their 3-2 majority. They will do ANYTHING to stay in control of the city council. This is why it's been so ugly. For the past several elections, they knew they would preserve their majority. They are acting like cornered animals - let's hope justifiably so.

    ReplyDelete
  48. 2:44, who are "they"? Name some names. Seriously, who are these cornered animals. The only reason anyone puts any resources, including time and money, behind any candidate is becasuse there is something in it for the person making the investment. Some intentions are honorable such as open government, clean water, safe streets, but most are not, such as fast track developemnt approvals and sweetheart real estate deals. Help those of us with honorable intentions synthesize our position by naming names.

    ReplyDelete
  49. "If you don't like it, don't join".

I think the KKK used to say the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  50. 3:04 - "They" are listed on Danny's last mailer. "They" include the Eckes who want their large land holding re-zoned.

The people who are on the mailers are people who allowed themselves to be "listed" even after the appliance, loan, and bank stories came out. They care nothing about democracy....only their personal greed drives them.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have read with great delight the spontaneous outrage espoused by so many of you. It is so satisfying to see that those bedrocks of democracy and civil society, half truths, innuendo, and paranoid conspiracy theories, are still strong. Your attack on Encinitas Rotary is long overdue. Are you aware that some of the members are Catholic? Others are even Jewish? I suspect there is even a Buddhist among them. We surely can’t trust those people. Worse yet there are even pacifists and surfers. Surely no decent person would want to be associated with the likes of them.
Their volunteer work in the community is most certainly part of some malevolent plot to destroy the fabric of decency. We should all be alarmed by their efforts to improve the landscaping in front of the Boat Houses and their work to expand the trails at San Elijo Lagoon? Only the devil knows what mischief they will be up to next? One thing for certain is we need to follow the money. I suspect that their fund raising efforts are clandestine plots to exert their unsavory influence on an unsuspecting society. Just look at the list of nefarious organizations they have supported with the $140,000 they raise and donate each year. On that list you’ll find the Community Resource Center and the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation. Oh and they even sent money to La Paz, Mexico to provide water filters to the poor. Isn’t it obvious they are supporting socialist organizations and foreigners?
But the worst of it is that they have actually infiltrated the public school system. Why just last week they were seen giving out brand new dictionaries to all of the third graders in Encinitas. And they recently expanded their financial literacy program in our schools. They even do it for FREE. Obviously they are anti-capitalism. What will come of us if our children can actually spell and make sound financial decisions? Fortunately I can rest easy in my grave knowing there are so many good people like you who are quick to jump to conclusions. Further I’m delighted to inform you that your lineage dates back to those guardians of truth and due process, the magistrates of the Salem Witch Trials.
Who am I? You can find me in the history books under McCarthy, Joseph R.

    ReplyDelete
  52. McCarthy was wrong.

Are you saying that is not really the Rotary's website with the jokes?

Are you saying the Rotary president wasn't actually involved in divisive behavior and that Kristin Gaspar has been running a campaign that is honorable?

Rotary does all those great things, but Rotarians shouldn't be given get out of jail free cards just because they're up to date on their membership dues.

Similarly, therefore, nobody need look away when the Rotary ( through its president ) does some disgusting things, such as audibly calling a woman a whore at a public forum. Do you think your good works should excuse everything? Look in the mirror. You are flawed as are we all.

  62. I've just received the 3rd slate mailer paid for by Dalager and Gaspar. The 3 organizations are:
    1) The Voter Information Guide
    2) The Council of Women Voters, and
    3) The Coalition for Senior Citizen Security

All 3 mailers suggest they are supporting the Democratic party and progressive state initiatives. They endorse Jerry Brown for governor, Barbara Boxer for senator, and Prop. 19, the marijuana legalization initiative. One even includes critical remarks about Meg Whitman. And lo and behold, they also contain endorsements of Dalager and Gaspar, with asterisks indicating both candidates helped pay for the flier. This is the height of cynicism. Dalager and Gaspar are willing to totally contradict their basic principles and beliefs, relying on voter ignorance to get a few more votes. All three mailers include a phrase such as "take this with you to the polls" - in other words, if you're in a rush and just want to know how Democrats and progressives are voting, just take this with you and fill in the dots accordingly.

This is a blatant attempt to overwhelm the voter with misinformation. It is an overt threat to democracy, and a perversion of free speech. We need to bring this to light, expose it, bring it forward for all to see. We can't let people win an election this way. This is a travesty.

    ReplyDelete
