Danny is still saying things that aren't true and has not come clean on the scandals. No one has even tried to get the free $200.
Tony is still running a campaign that is for 5 fields but doesn't have pretty mailers with lots of sporty folks' names on it.
Barth is coming across as wishy-washy on what types of improvements should be made to I5.
Kristin still doesn't have positions, except for the ones that some political marking company in Burbank makes up for her.

ETA, Hoodlink, Ethic Group, etc. is no better than the other sides misleading information pieces prepared by outside interest groups or an old boy's Rotary Club.
NOTE to both side - GET REAL! You are both losing creditability with the regular voter.
I can get more creditable information from a milk carton or a yard sign.
ETA, Hoodlink, and the Ethic's group are comprised of people who actually attend city council meetings, who actually research issues and who actually stand up before the council and state their opinions, and follow up with letters to the editors and talking to other people about their thoughts. These people see the council in action, witness Danny not being able to formulate one question because he never reads the staff materials, watch Stocks berate, intimidate and insult citizens with contrary opinions to his own, and watch Bond try to change the channel on his monitor with his remote. It is a sad, sad sight. How many of the Gasping Dalablabber supporters participate in our government other than by making snarky comments on this blog? If you find Teresa wishy-washy, you aren't listening.

I think Barth has been clear that CALTRANS should be limited to their own right of way and not take additional land. I don't recall a position on what types of lanes, their width, etc., which is not really something the City Council has a say in. I'm sure the good people at CALTRANS will offer studies on what works best.

ReplyDeleteGo back through the back issues and I think you will find a thread of meaningful commentary and a consistent resistance to the goals and methods of Stocks, Dalager, and to a lesser extent, Bond. The Hoodlink aims to educate and enlighten. As far as I know [and I was there at the start] not one of the editors has any self interest or ax to grind. I have said I will not run for office or serve on City Commitees. I have no personal issues with any of the three Councilmen I oppose [ other than being lied to last election by Dalager] and do not have a business in the City. I do own a home with my wife in Leucadia.
I am always amused when someone theorizes that the growing opposition to the good ol' boys is some artificial, created group. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The opposition was created by the City in a series of misguided policies that affected different people throughout the City - those people came together to try and change what they perceived as problems. I didn't know Bob Bondi, Sheila Cameron, or the group of people that have been fighting City Hall long before I was around until I found that City policies were often a sham and ignored. The one unifying theme I have seen as different people begin to realize their City is not run by rule of law is disbelief. The most common phrase you hear from these "newbies" is "Did they really do that?"
Republicans, Democrats, Liberterians, folks of all political stripe have come forward to try and guide this City into the light, often at great expense in both time and money. There is no political "sugar daddy" paying the bills here. There are no put up candidates, no out of state money, no misleading , glossy brochures. We have a hard message that must be thought about, not the easy catch phrase making the complex sound easy. As you may have suspected, we really don't hate kids for instance. I am proud to have tried to help this brave group fix our City. I support the Hoodlink's endorsement of Barth and Kranz. I hope you will vote for them too, so we won't take a step backward for our City's future.

The people of the United States of America recognize the difference between the free exchange of ideas and buying elections. The ECGC is spending a lot of money. Hoodlink is spending nothing.
ReplyDeleteVery few people have a problem with the anonymous exchange of ideas until vast amounts of money are spent, then people want to understand possible motives.
Hoodlink is also very established and they do not pretend to not have an opinion. They certainly do and they explain their opinion. You can take it or leave it. If they start spending money then their contributors should be named.
Don't worry! After the election, the leaders of these groups will be exposed to the community, their neighbors, their friends and their employers.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like truth and transparency in government is frightning to you. Is it people who go to council meetings? Is it people who do their homework and research?
If it is people that go to the council meetings, you too can go to the council meetings. You will be safe. The sheriffs go to the meetings also.
If it is homework and research that frightens you, you can take a class at Mira Costa to update your research skills. You can take it for no grade and it won't hurt your GPA.
Truth and Transparency shouldn't be limited to only government leaders. We need to know the backgrounds of the leaders of each activist group.
